New Shoulder Pads

Recommended Posts

I'm sure this has been a previous topic, but I would like to re-start one...

Any suggestions for a new pair... good protection, comfortable, and not to bulky...

Thinking about rbk... possibly Farrel (or Pharrel, not sure on spelling), the Candadian company

Suggestions...

I have narrowed down my choses to either Rbk/Jofa, NBH, or CCM...

SUggestions

What level of play? If beer league, then I suggest Sher-Wood 5030 Traditions, son.

Bantam AAA Elite... Not exactly beer league lol

Way to narrow it down to the three companies with a million and one shoulder pads..

Whats your size? Do you like bulky pads or no?

Prob. a medium...

Not to bulky, but wouldn't mind any extra protection

I'm a big fan of my Vector 8.0 shoulders. Not as bulky as the old ones they replaced, great protection and reasonably priced ($75).

The protection part, I like the shoulder caps and they way they can be adjusted, the spine has a nice cage over it (I've had spine surgery), the padding extends nice and low both front and back how I like it and the chest area is nice and thick with reenforcements.

Alright... I wan't something that will be comfortable w/ my elbow pads(Vector 10.0) since they have a bi-cep cuff...

I like the Rbk's and I can't wait till May for the new stuff....

What do you think of those Shoulder pads called "Farrell"

Thanks for the suggestions, but I'm still having a tough time making the decision..

I'a say the Farrell shoulder pads would be great. I wear them and suggest them to just about any hockey player. www.farrellsports.com They are by far the best I've worn and i just switched from CCM 200's from about 1996. Took a lot for me to change.

I'll bump for the RBK 4k's. I did a stick & puck today without the pads and felt a little cooler, but wasn't dreading going pack to pads because of mobility.

As always, if you're looking to save some coin, look at last year's ones when the new stuff comes out.

I saw them at the show and I wouldn't suggest them because there are a couple design flaws that I think could result in injury.

There is a lot of uncovered hard plastic that is dangerous to others. The fact that the caps don't move also requires you to be hit just right for them to protect you. I think they have potential but need some refinements.

i have the farrel pads and i love them

you can move a lot easier in them

when u first try them on it doesnt seem like theyd do much but they do.

lots of movement, there loose so good breathability, customizable for ur style of play, very protective.

chad i dont know what your talking about, ive been using them for monthes and havent had an injury yet

I just got them and the sizing is ridiculous! I was in some old Easton Xtreme shoulder pads in a size Medium and they were pretty small and I put on a size Small in the Farrell and they gave me plenty of room.

ya same thing happened to me... i have a small there actually really loose. but it doesnt affect the protection and only helps my breathing and manuverability.
