Inline skate to Ice skate.

Recommended Posts

So my buddy has convinced me to play in the spring/summer beer league with him. I've played inline my whole life, and skated mission my whole life.

Can you guys reccomend a skate for me? I like the way Mission inlines fit, so will their ice skates fit well too? I don't want to spend a TON since this is mostly an experiment for me, but I don't want to spend too little, in case I really like it and have to spend more on better skates. Are there any good closeout deals right now? I'm currently using Mission 9500's for my inlines.

Also, is there any way I should sharpen the blades to make my transition from inline to ice smoother?

Thanks!

I'd say stick with a mission boot since it works for you for inline. Set the pitch setting to +1 and see how it feels.

As far as sharpening, I've found that a lot of roller guys like to use shallower hollows since they don't give as much bite, and roller in general doesnt have as much grip as ice.

Also, you'll want to try a big radius. IIRC OTG mentioned something about trying a 13' radius when switching from roller to ice. Size of the boot should also be considered for that also.

These are good, if you like the mission inlines.

HG has had the s500 as low as $150.00, and the s400 as low as $125.00, depending on which weekend special they run.

The S-series fits a lot like the D-series inline. The L-series is about 1/2 size larger, but width and all are similar.

S500's were as low as $100 on HG - always look for the prices that are whole numbers such as $100.00 instead of $199.99 on weekends.
