Modifying a tuuk

Recommended Posts

Hey guys

I been skating on Cobras for a few yrs now and I like them and I tried Tuuks and felt as if I was on my heels the whole game (terrible).

I was wondering if you add a heel lift would it replicate a cobra pitch ?

Also what size MM?

Thanks

Yes, you can make a Tuuk feel like a cobra.

If you have some old footbeds. Cut off a 2.5" at the heel and slip them under your footbeds and go give it a try and see if you like the feel. You can also cut out cardboard, try one layer, then 2, 3, etc. till you get the pitch you want. Then when you get it right, measure the thickness of the layers and make a lift that thick. You can also just have them profiled with some pitch on them.

Doesn't sound like a great idea.

You will need lifts under the heel of the holder.. Not in the heel of the boot.

Jimmy was only suggesting the footbed method to gauge how much of a lift to put under the holder, not as a permanent solution.

You can do it both ways, depending on how much lift you want. When the S15's come out, pull out the footbed and look at the bottom of it. I had a pair here yesterday, but they're gone, otherwise I'd take a pic. Lift is under the footbed. Still, you can use lifts under the footbed, nothing new there. They don't work so well if you need a huge lift, but in most cases, you don't need such a huge lift. I actually prefer to pitch the steel, that way you don't have to mess with the boot or rivets.

I won a pair of 1500c's from the toy drive that came with those footbeds instead of the Shockdoctors. Looks like the lift is held in place by a small square of 2-sided tape.

Are there any issues with adding/removing lifts in boots that are already moulded to a person's ankle?

Maybe I'm overthinking things here, but if you add 5mm inside, then take it out to add it under the holder, do you screw up your boot? Like messing up your heel lock and/or making your ankle-bump-spots longer (if that makes sense)?

So the 1500's are not being replaced by the S15's?
