Computer Help

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

So here's the story, my little cousins came over one day and used my dad's computer. They messed up the settings of the computer, and now everything is a little off. It's not a major problem, but he would definitely like it fixed. The issue is that on all webpages (using either IE 7 or Firefox) only the text and pictures are loaded. There's no background. Here's a screenshot of www.tsn.ca, Notice how there's no red background.

I've tried adjust all of the Internet Options and the Display properties, but have come across no success. Any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

pg

If both Firefox and IE are both experiencing the same problem, that would make me think it would be a OS problem. It looks like you are just getting the html elements of the page and it seems like the css code is not being processed. Why? I dont know. If this was strictly a FF or IE problem, there would be a few steps to go through, but if it is happening in BOTH, thats a little weird.

do you have some kind of option in an antivirus program that you may be using which would block what's loading up on the webpages? or perhaps some kind of firewall?

It wouldnt be a firewall. A firewall would completely block content from a server. He is getting the information, but it is not rendering correctly.

I thought it might be the anti-virus program too, but there aren't many options I can see why it would cause this problem. However, I'll take a closer look at it.

Any other ideas?

Also, I notice this problem is not just web-related. It affects programs as well, such as msn messenger (ie no blue background).

if it's like that w/ msn messenger, maybe check the video card settings, or display settings? or maybe it's got something to do with the hardware acceleration of the video card being set to the lowest?
