mac daddy or dolomite?

Recommended Posts

I know its pp but if I get enough feedback of why different people like each stick it may help in my decision...thanks in advance for all responses...also if someone can tell me about flex of warriors. is 100 flex the same as 100 flex easton and so on?

I have a Mac Daddy and its the best stick that i have ever used. I got it around Christmas and its still going strong. With other sticks i usually break the blade after about 40 days of use but this is still nice and stiff (knock on wood). I have an 85 and would say its pretty close to an Easton 85, not sure about a flex 100 though.

Dolomite all the way. The Mac Daddy's I've seen seemed to be a bit flimsier than the Dolomites that I've used. If you like a lighter stick with a bit more feel to it, the Mac Daddy is where it's at, but if you like a solid stick that kicks like nobody's business, go with the Dolomite.

The only thing Dolomite that I've broken was a blade, and it was just a bad crack that spread out. Since then, I got another Dolomite and a Dolomite 2 blade. The stick has lasted me almost a full year, playing an average of one hour 5-6 times a week, with a lot of slapshots.

I like the Mac Daddy cuz it's bright and makes me stick out on the ice and that's what's really important lolz!

Color preferences aside, the biggest difference you'll find between the two sticks is probably in the handle/shaft shape. The dolo is rounded off and a bit smaller than the mac, which is quite boxy. The blades are essentially the same, and weight difference is negligible. I had a vapor XXX (same as Mac Daddy with a slightly different blade) and I have a dolo, and I prefer the dolo. Your best bet is to go into a store and feel the differences for yourself.

As far as flex, it's maybe a touch stiffer than easton for the 100 flex; I've read that an 85 is a touch whippier than an easton 85. Its prety darn close either way. With time, the shafts will loosen up a bit though; my 100 flex dolo now feels like an 85-90.

Theyre both almost exactly the same! the only difference is the paint job.

Actually, I believe they are different sticks. The Dolomite is a fused one-piece while the MacDaddy is a true one-piece. I can't remenber what their Inno equivalents are but I'm pretty sure they are different.

:D I bet that if people saw a dolomite at 179 and a inno 1100 at clearance for 119, they would still go and buy the pretty warrior stick...lol

mac daddy is also VERY comparable to a vapor XXX.

My LHS finally got some warriors in. I looked at the Kronik, Dolomite and Mac Daddy... not impressed. The Kronic felt a nicely balanced but the blade wasn't as stiff as I'd hope(my XN10 has a much stiffer blade) and the hosel feels hollow. I think that it would feel a little flimsy and have that hollow feeling when puckhandling.

I don't mean feels hollow as in it is hollow... I mean how it doesn't feel solid(if that makes sense). Like a Vapor XXX feels like a solid stick, feels durable... while a XXXlite feels hollow. I don't know how else to describe it better than that.

I know I probably wouldn't like the feel from the stick. It's the same reason I can't stand the XXXlite... yet, I like the vapor XXX.

But again this is coming from a guy that asks for unused end capss from friends and teammates because I don't like the feeling of using a stick without one. And if I can't find one I have to put a lot of tape over the top of the stick because the stick feels hollow without the end plugged.

You have much to learn, young grasshopper. The two sticks are physically different. As previously stated, the Mac Daddy is a true one piece, which tapers smoothly all the way through to the blade. The Dolomite is a fused one piece, which appears to taper the same, but is really just a tapered two-piece stick, making it kick a little higher than the Mac Daddy. The Mac Daddy probably has a little less material on the shaft as well as the blade, so it feels lighter, and thus, "hollow" as TBLfan stated.

The Mac Daddy is, essentially, the Vapor XXX. I have an XXX, which I only used a couple of times. It is a light stick, but every shot I take feels like I'm about to break it in half. (Might be because it's 87 flex). However, my 100 Flex Dolomites just keep on dropping bombs, so I think I'm going to get rid of the XXX and get another Dolo.

Not exactly. I feel that the Mac Daddy feels like a solid stick, just like the Vapor XXX. The Kronic reminds me of the "hollow" feeling I got with the XXXlite. It almost feels like you're holding a pvc pipe instead of a hockey stick.

Yes, the biggest thing you will feel is the profile of the shaft. The Mac Daddy is much more square and a larger profile. Way too big for my little hands. The Dolomite seems much slimmer and rounder. Think CCM Vector T (Mac Daddy) vs. C (Dolomite) profiles.

I know what you mean by the XXX Lite, which really is not solid at all, but I feel that although the XXX is better, it is still no XX. I guess the heavier, more traditional fused design feels more solid for me. It might have just been my XXX, so I'll have to give it another look with a 102 Flex instead of 87.

It's nice to know that I'm not by myself with understanding this. Actually only one of my friends understands what I mean, he sold his XXXlite because of this.

I am not totally convinced, from what the feedback has been from our customers who have used them, that the Mac Daddy is worth the $$ difference.

So far we have had great response from the Dolomite...I use one myself...AWESOME!

These sticks sell so fast (All Warrior)...NHL exposure is great, and so far the quality has stood up to the demand....which is more than can be said fo rsome other stick companies out there who had a rush on popularity!! He He we all know who these companies are...! They have mostly all fixed up their problems now....most sticks are good these days.

We also just got in the Warrior gloves, t-shirts, hats, warm up jackets & pants...nice products all around.

I just ordered the Dolomite shaft (77 flex to be cut down) and the Roby blade... This will be my 1st high end stick, so I'm pretty pumped about it.

Have you thought about a shaft/blade combo? I'd rather save half the stick when and if it breaks.

TBLfan, you are not alone! I felt the same way when comparing the Mac Daddy shaft feel to that of the XXXLite. The XXXLite shaft kinda felt like a stretched out ping-pong ball. Hollow. Airy. Thin-walled. BREAKABLE. Does that make sence? Like the stick was too light for my likeing.

ml6008, you made a great choice in the Mac Daddy.
