Michael9 57 Report post Posted April 27, 2007 http://www.cbc.ca/canada/montreal/story/20...nslaughter.htmlA 14-year-old boy charged with manslaughter in the death of fellow high school student was expected to appear in court in Rivière-du-Loup on Friday for a bail hearing. The teenager, who cannot be named, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter after the fight at Ecole secondaire arc-en-ciel in the town of Trois-Pistoles, about 250 kilometres northeast of Quebec City. The boy who died has been identified as Jean-Benoît Beaulieu.Police said Beaulieu was knocked unconscious in the brief fight on Wednesday, and died less than 12 hours later in hospital. The school was closed Thursday and Friday, but students were invited to come to the school on Friday for counselling to cope with the tragedy. On Thursday, students brought flowers to the school to express their sympathy for Beaulieu, and wrote notes on his locker. Edge 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2007 THAT is the reason I don't like to clock anybody. Too much guilt.I've always been reluctant to get into fights for this reason too. If you hit someone in the wrong spot and they die somehow, its on you for the rest of your life...
J-Shera 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2007 No doubt I feel bad for the kid who died, but I also feel terrible for the other guy. I mean, they were probably both fighting to solve something, one good punch and then boom, your whole life changes. Terrible, terrible luck.
Jason Harris 31 Report post Posted April 28, 2007 I understand what you mean that the "victor" has to live with his actions but, trust me, the only thing they need to solve is getting past the age where they think they need to solve something. What I mean by this is I've never started a fight in my life, but my brother used to have a fight each week, then each month, then each year and, finally, when he hit his forties, he realized there really weren't issues that needed to be solved. Or put another way, I have no idea which of my friends could beat the other, but I often see teenage boys having slapping contests to let the other know who's the alpha dog.I'm sorry for being so harsh, but you finally reach an age where you realize 99% of the squabbles are just meaningless. Salming, you really summed things up with that statement. Personally I feel the same way, we as humans should not have to resort to a fight to resolve issues (especially if its an issue between two 14 year olds) although sometimes it might be justifiable if you need to fight to protect your own well-being and you have no other choice. But other then that its just silly.

D3nZ 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2007 Yeah, It's about halfway between Rivière-du-Loup and Rimouski. I would say it's 1h15 minutes of drive away from here. Just imagine what can one single punch do.
