Missing the net

Is it my imagination or are there a ton of shots not getting on net in the playoffs this year? I'm not talking about blocked or deflected shots but guys just plain missing the net.

Maybe they are afraid that if they hit the goalie with a puck they will be called for pucking. Gotta protect the goalies.

alot of guys are playing the puck off the boards to thier forwards, like a bank shot. Alot of times the front of the net is so clogged up there is no way to get a puck through so you bounce it off the boards. Alot of guys practice banking it off the boards in warm ups so they get a feel of the rink.

Vlassic, Hannan have been bouncing pucks off the boards on purpose this whole series against Detroit, who have been doing the same. Each time they do the commentators say they 'shoot it wide' when in fact it's not a shot at all.

Anyone think if there's a significant change over last year it may be because of the larger curve allowed?

that explains why alot of defensemen practice shooting to the sides of the net and bouncing the puck off the boards, so in the game when a player goes down in front of them they have practiced how to miss... ;)

They need to know how to ricochet a puck off the boards BECAUSE more players are blocking shots and taking up shooting lanes. The D-men needs to get the puck to the net somehow.

Maybe I should play in the NHL because I can't hit an empty net let alone one with a Michelin man in front of.
