Shipping gear to Australia

Recommended Posts

In Singapore, the ice scene is pretty small, and inline even smaller. They were trying to build it up a few years ago, but got run by some A$$ wipes that basically ran a biz on the side.

Imagine 'winning' a league/tourny, and getting gift vouchers. Small print says you need to spend at least X amount of dollars before you can use the voucher... makes good biz sense, but not exactly promoting the sport.

Anyway, wishing your buddy luck in Singapore... if he needs a team to play with, let me know...

hockey stuff in Singapore is pretty expensive, you get much better deals online.

Dear god, that league sounds chintzy... I hope that scene's changed a bit. He's ice-only, so the lack of inline won't hurt him.

Thanks for the good wishes & all - I'll refer him to the thread once he's landed and settled. I think he has a team lined up (he's been talking with a bunch of Canadian ex-pats for a few months now), but it never hurts to have advice from someone who knows the territory. Cheers.

And yeah, I'm going to be flying over his new gear on BA. Kind of sad that it's cheaper to do things that way, since in principle he'd like to support the hockey businesses over there.

sounds good... let me know, cause some of my team mates play on ice as well.

Best o' luck to him... I think he will end up playing for the winter flames or something.

Did you ever meet a Finnish guy called Jarkko who plays in the Singapore league? Tends to average four points and ten PIM per game... because Steve would love to get on his team, or at least his good side! :D

Just out of curiosity, would it be ALOT cheaper to have a blade and shaft combo sent out than a OPS if it wasnt assembled yet? That way it would only be a long thin package of the shaft and a separate little package for the blade. Should take up a lot less space when being shipped. Anyone had experience with this?

You save about 40-60 bucks US on shipping the last time I did it.

Is that in comparison to having the same thing shipped as a one-piece? Seems like that's the best option!

best to just get a shaft and blade combo, but let them know that you dont want the blade already inserted to the shaft. At least saves you a little...

As for OPS, i think i have to wait for someone coming in before asking them to help me get one or two.

How have people shipped sticks to Australia in the past?

All this info is really good but i've emailed USPS to try and get a quote. I'm trying to get some new pants, a shaft, and a blade, but they said that the maximum length for any possible package they can do is 46 inches. I've checked FedEx and UPS too, they seem to be able to do it, but there rates are more than twice as expensive and it's not worth it, just too much.

How long is a shaft in general? Or more specifically a senior warrior dolomite shaft?

Just want to make sure everything is ok before i buy the gear and have it shipped to a friend before he ships it on to me.

i'm currently trying to figure out what's the best way to ship to Australia. Basically, I was quoted $40(priority) and when I got to the post office they told me it was going to be $95(standard), $125 for priority. I'm trying to figure out how I can get these packages to fatwabbit without him and his buddy paying through their nose in shipping. USPS would be the cheapest route right? fedex quoted me well over $200 and UPS and DHL wouldn't give me a quote but I recall them being a lot more expensive.

Yeah from what i've researched USPS is by far the cheapest. They won't ship sticks though because they're outside the limit for them. Has anyone ever taken a stick in and they've found a way to ship it? Either a OPS or just a shaft? Most likely a shaft.

TBLfan just in general what sort of gear are you trying to ship? Because I'm trying to get pants a shaft and a blade, if its similar to what your posting are you looking to do it in one big box, or separate? What's the cheapest basically.

some blades and a pair of goalie pads, other misc stuff. I was thinking one box and trying to stuff a shaft in there but the box has to be a little big.

TBLfan if your able to ship it using USPS by stuffing the shaft in there any way possible could u let me know. Or just let me know how it goes in general becuase i'm relaly keen to have this stuff sent over to me but i dont think i will bother right now if its going to cost me 100 bucks in postage. Might have to see if i can get a few guys to all get sticks sent at the same time to save on the postage... Anyway yeah let me know. Cheers

I have had at least 30 OPS sticks mailed to me over the last 3 years.

USPS has a $44 postage option that takes one week for one stick. 3 sticks is around $70.

Dont mean to be a hassle or anything but how exactly did you do it? Did you have your own package or what package did you use from them? Because i emailed them and they replied saying they couldnt do a package of that length. Could you please post here or pm me every detail of how you did it? Thank you so much in advance.

I've actually had some shafts sent to me recently. The guy I worked with sent me the sticks in one package via UPS, and the other gear via USPS. Funny thing is they arrive at my doorstep one week after he sent it, half an hour difference. Recieved the first at about 730am, and the other at 8am. I was thinking it was Christmas!

Cost for shipping the shafts was about $40.

I can hook you up if you want, let me know

(sounds like some kinda drug deal)

Just had a mate try and score some Goalie Ice skates from Hockeygiant/Epuck. Both refused to ship to him as they claim now that they no longer ship anything thats branded Easton, NBH or RBK/CCM/Jofa/Koho anymore.

Does anyone know of any sites (icewarehouse maybe?) that are still shipping gear internationally?

I knew that giant and monkey both didnt ship those items.... didnt know that epuck now does that....

alternatively, you can ship your items to someone in the US, and usually shipping is free above a certain amount in the US. you can then have that person re-direct the good to you... let me know if you need help, i've got a few guys in the US who can help me.
