Vapor XXX question

Recommended Posts

Sorry to make a topic but I don't think this has been covered before. Last year I had Vapor XXs which I liked alot. They fit my foot good and I didn't have any problems but they just broke down so I got One90s. The One90s are 10d which is a half size too big but I've been using them for a full season and they've been ok. I decided to try Vapor XXXs so I got 10Ds which seem to fit my foot perfectly, my toes brush up against the front and they're definately not too wide but when I used them they just felt way too loose, my foot was like wobbling around kinda, and I got blisters on my heels. Would baking them help or should I just try to sell them?

they arent too wide but your foot was wobbeling around? where was you foot "wobbeling" was it side to side, up and down? have you considered trying a thicker insole which may take up some of the empty space and also could possible give you better arch support which inturn should make the fit seem more snug and secure?

thanks for the reply, I can't really explain it. they just feel too loose like they don't wrap around my foot good and I can't skate good, I haven't skated in them for a few weeks but i think it might be my ankle isn't supported as much as I'm used to.

Some people out there are completely against baking because they say it breaks down the skate too fast. My opinion is that baking helps quite a bit. It will definetly help you get the skates tighter around your foot because it will soften the area where the eyelets are so you will actually be able to tie the skate around your foot, instead of you laces just holding the boot on.

Baking is a personal preference. I usually do bake skates, but I usually will skate once or twice in the boot to see how they fit...because I just can't gauge fit and feel without skating in them. If the fit isn't quite right, like you described in your experience with the XXXs, then baking would be the next step for me.

from what im collecting, i would say bake them, make sure you tie them TIGHT but, dont pull up on the eyelets, pull out of the eyelets (horizontal instead of vertical) and i thnik a nicer footbed would also help to take up some room.
