Removing bearing's from wheels

Recommended Posts

I am a noob when talking about inline skates, so if anyone can help me out or redirect me to a topic with any helpful information that would be great. So here is my situation, I broke one of my wheels and i would like to remove the bearing before i throw it out. So how would I go about doing that. Thanks for the help, Michael9

sometimes you can pop them out by pushing on the axle and punching it out the other side.

I find that inserting an allen wrench into the center of the axle and prying works well too for stubborn wheels.

This all assuming that you don't have a skate tool with a bearing pusher ;)

I've been using my Kryptonics Kryp-tool for years and yesterday I switched to floating spacers on my Eframes and the Kryp-tool doesn't work for popping the bearings out anymore. Is the Sonic tool the only way to go for floating spacers?

i ran into the same problem the other day. i just slid the spacer so it wasn't centered, and pushed on that, in turn forcing the bearing out. i would guess it's not the best thing you can do for your bearings though.

Getting bearings out that are next to floating spacers are easy. Get something round (either the end of an alan/hex wrench tool if you have one or a pretty big screw driver) and insert it into one bearing (but not into the floating spacer). Pry up a little bit, which will move one edge of the bearing out a little bit. Rotate the wheel and keep doing it, so you slowly wiggle the bearing out. Once you get one out, the other comes out easily.
