Blade removing........

Recommended Posts

Take off the footbed

There'll be a cap in the heel, take that off.

Take an 8mm socket and put it in, undo the bolt

Pull the steel off from the heel.

just an addition to jrs, if you had the holders mounted onto a boot that did not originaly come with the ls2 on there, you may have to completly remove the holder and then remount, if this is the scenario, make sure you have someone drill out this acess hole (i wouldnt say any larger than 3/8'') before remounting the holder.

No, all you have to do is get a big drill bit and drill straight down between the copper rivet and the last steel rivet. You don't have to remove the holder to do this.

You essentially need a hole the size of a nickel.

couldnt you damage the bolt in the holder that way? thats what i was told before i started seeing you for all my skate problems.

Nope...just let the drill do the work. I've done it countless of times.

I have a special drill bit in the shop that has a screw head. It drills the small hole first then bores the big hole. Works like a charm.

hmmm, well you just saved me a ton of work, i think im gonna come see you one day and let you show me where to do it because my steel is loose on my skates, and ofcourse me and brandon didnt think to drill the acess hole until after the holders were already mounted.

all you need is a small pilot hole(it does what JR's bit does). Just take either a tap or a smaller drill bit and drill a small hole in the middle of where you want to drill the larger hole. It makes it very easy to drill out the bigger hole without "spill over." Or you can just keep gradually making the hole bigger, again much easier than just drilling with the larger bit.

That is another way of doing it. Drill your pilot hole - once you know you've hit it, bore it out with a bigger bit.

The bit I have is great - once it goes through, it holds it all in one piece. Doesn't strip the carbon fibre and like I said, it stays on the bit. So once I am done drilling, I can pull out exactly what was drilled out.
