precursor 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2007 Ok, here is an instant classic from last week. We play rec-inline, and it's our goalies first season. Since he doesn't drive, I have to go pick him up every week. Well, I get there about an hour before the game, and he's all like "uhh dude, I can't find my pads anywhere". So, we proceed to look all over the house (maybe thinking his roommate played a joke on him), and even looked in the garage.. nadda. So, we realize that last week, someone else dropped him off. So, we go over to his house, and hes like "no dude, they aren't here. Come to think of it, I don't remember you putting your pads into the car. I remember thinking to myself how the hell does he fit all of his gear into one bag". At that point, we head over to the rink, praying he left them there and that someone was actually nice enough to save em. We pull up, and one of the ref's is sitting outside who we know. He's like "dude, how can you go a week without your pads, don't you play anytime else?".. I think the guy was surprised when my friend was like "you mean they are here and they are safe?".. The dude started cracking up and ripped into him for the entire game.At one point, another ref skated up and was like "how the f- do you leave your pads somewhere for a week, and not even know it? Are you retarded?"I don't think he will ever live it down.
Tyler B 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2007 one time i was playing a long game with a really short bench.. i got called for unsportsman like after being clearly hit from behind and saying my 2 cents to the ref on how he didnt make the call (he gave the kid a roughing penalty). So my penalty ran into the second period and for some reason i thought we changed sides in the box as well as on the ice. I dont know why i thought that. So im sitting in there and the other player who also had a penalty came and told me to get out of his box. I also got thrown from thsi game for "fighting" after their whole forward line jumped me in the corner and tried to fight me. I just skated away from them and pushed them off me. And the ref gives me 2 and 10. Since theres no such thing as a 2 min fighting penalty my manager got me out of a suspension.ive also forgot my can and socks once. Thats about it. RadioGaGa 162 Report post Posted September 15, 2007 Anyone ever have a bottle of shampoo leak into their hockey bag...*raises hand*Me...tonight. I was gonna go to shinny tonight, but when I went to pack up my gear...one end of my bag was full of shampoo. Shit. Took half an hour to clean it all up...missed hockey. On the plus side...the inside of my hockey bag is pretty clean...bad news...it's a new MSH bag...so it wasn't even that bad yet. My OLD bag could've used the cleaning.

OhMyGodImOnFire 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2007 So my coach does not really do much goalie stuff doing drills. The last 15 minutes are devoted to a gauntlet-style checking drill. So, being the genius that I am, I decide to go through it. I knock someone over, and their skate hits the back of my thigh. Later, in the locker room, I find that I got a pretty decent skate cut right there. As a goalie, my Itech pants don't have much back there, and it shows skin (I usually don't wear socks unless I have to, coming from being a roller goalie). I was also surprised I didn't feel it until after I got off the ice. Maybe the cold numbed it O.o?So, now I have to somehow explain to people how I got a skate cut up my leg. LoXish 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2007 I grabbed the puck in the corner and went to toss it up to what I thought was two of our guys breaking out, turns out one of them, the one I passed it to, was the ref...White and black jerseys are confusing...Needless to say, I felt dumb. Groovyname 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2007 And an update to the hockey stick injury from hell... now I'm back in hospital again with a bloody big DVT (deep vein thrombosis) from the original operation on my gut... that's another... wait for it... three to six months off hockey, because the clot runs from my knee all the way to my friggin' groin. Oh. My. God. The good news is, now that i can't play hockey for a while, I've decided to devote my time to buying the best hockey gear I can find on the internet. A man has to have a hobby... so any tips on great deals (and yes, I've seen the great deal thread), let me know.PS. Thanks for the well wishes - am recovering nicely... clotted leg notwithstanding. And re Jose from the Moose, apparently it's not a common injury, but it's not exactly rare either... they call it a blunt force trauma, and there's quite a bit of literature around on it. Go figure. There's bad luck, there's really bad luck, and then there's you. What are you doing playing hockey in Australia, anyway?Ugg, just reading that was really painful... A speedy recovery to you. And think about the chess suggestion. :)
