3rd-party or Tuuk LS2 blades?

Jimmy, has there been any legal issues over the step steel? As they have basicaly copied the existing manufactures design, i know you can tweak it so its not the same, but does the likes of nike bauer know people are doing this?

Regarding the ice, well i cant even explain its that bad!

I don't think the aftermarket folks copied any design, rather built a piece of steel that fit's into the other manufacturers holders. If there were any patent infringment, they prob wouldn't have made it to market. It's like Kleenex saying, we make a kleenex, so no one else can make a tissue except us. So you can make a tissue, just can't call it a Kleenex. We leave this stuff up to the laywers.

As for ice, it sounds like you're playing street hockey, if it's that bad, no hollow will work well on it. You guys need to stick to makeing bangers and mash, Oh, cider too!

I'l take mine without ice, you can't seem to make that well.

Cheers for that jimmy.

The ice here has more ups and downs in it than a roller coaster, and when you do get to the end zones its like a log flume!

The Step steel does not "grind" differently. It's a good steel, better than stock for some brands. I've been selling it and have had zero problems with breakage, pitting, and it holds and edge as well as other good quality steel.

Not as good quality as say Mission or the RBK goal steel, but very good nevertheless. With the Hotblades and Step, I have no reason to sell Bauer steel anymore, it's so much better. I can see many dealers offering this as an alternative.

As an aside, skatedoctor, I just don't understand the quality of your ice dillema. If it's soft, 3/8's is no good. If it's hard, but rough, uneven, etc, then I could see 3/8's but not on soft ice ever. Unless of course, English skaters like to skate with training wheels. :)

I remembered to ask before our game last night, and my skate sharpener didn't notice any difference in grind.

My Step steel fit onto the LS2 holder better than the original LS2 steel. No clicking!

Anybody from the UK may know this rink very well! First person to name it will get a pat on the back! :D

Whitley Bay ice rink, a friend of mine actually used to play for the Warriors... I claim my pat on the back

It could be worse, my local ice rink has a deep end and a shallow end due to their being a regular sized plant under an olympic sized pad. When its at its worst you can touch the metal plates beneath the nice in the corners at one end of the rink.

Best thing to do is ask your LHS to carry them. A lot of items I carry in my store were because people asked me to get them.

I have to back the skatedoctor up on whitley bays ice. i play out of there for the university team and when he says its bad hes bigging it up a bit. there must be a 6 inch rise where the so-called zamboni comes on, the edges fade away in some corners so pucks disappear. if you go to wrap the puck around the back of the net it rebounds out the corner and goes through the slot, its ridiculous. i totally agree with what he's saying on sharpening aswell, for some reason unless u get a reasonably deep hollow u just cant skate on it. it feels like ur wearin dulled rental skates(weird i know)

on the subject of steel, does the easton steel they used on the s15's and synergy 1500's fit into a tuuk ls2 runner? i found the easton steel held its edge very well, any others find this aswell?

No it does not fit. If you want to use the Easton steel you will have to get the Easton holders for them as well and have them mounted on your skates.
