why did rbk make it 470 g. and why do so many pros use it if it is so heavy

It's a shot of liquor heavier than a Vapor XX - it's not like it's a pound.

Perhaps the performance is better or it is more durable? Plus, I believe it's still lighter than the 9-O

For the most part, it also seems that pros aren't using quite the same thing as the retail version. The sic kick i've played with(derek morris pro stock) is very different than the retail. It felt lighter, better balanced, and had none of that snake grip stuff. Pros get what they want.

470g is heavy? Pick up a wooden stick from 10 years ago, you'll be blown away.

I personally prefer a stick in the 460-470g range over a sub 400g stick, because it actually feels like I have a stick in my hands.

Read my mind. I actually don't like any stick that I've tried that was under 420.

This is my useless post for the day. :D

Balance is more important than weight. That said, CCM/RBK has always had problems producing a light stick.

Has anyone tried to turn a busted sickick into a shaft? I tried on mine and found that there is this ridge or spine running in the middle of one of the inside walls of the shaft. It appears that this spine extend up all the way into to shaft, at least far enough that it would render it useless once you cut far enough up the shaft. I wonder if this is similar to what Inno used to have cared the Boron spine (sp?) The sickick was a pro-return. I got it brand new and it's a lehoiux (sp?) pattern.

ccm/rbk uses a bladder to mold their sticks. It's not as precise a method as most other manufacturers, so there are often differences in wall thickness and other imperfections.

That ridge is not in all Sickicks. You should be able to just file the ridge out and put a blade in with no problems.
