Gummer12 134 Report post Posted June 6, 2007 It's getting that time of year, and thought I'd ask what everyone uses to clean their rinks during the off time. (For those that pull out their ice in summer) We have 3/8" Tempered glass, and a couple years ago, we found a chemical that worked wonders on puck marks. Just spray on, and wipe off. Too bad nobody remembered what it was called. Anyone have something in mind that they find works great? We used to use that Blue Dash/citrus crap from Becker on our dasher boards, but that was a pain. It kept clogging up our spray bottles and the rotary buffer went through pads like Heatly goes through Sticks. Anyone else know of any other system that's a real snap to do? We just put in new kickplate last summer (WHAT A BITCH!) So we, no wait, I will have to go around and check for any loose or missing screws. Any other tips or ideas of what to clean around the rink feel free to post.

Gummer12 134 Report post Posted June 6, 2007 Hmm.. I wonder if a power washer would work on the Glass? We're gonna power wash our bleachers this summer, so we might give it a shot. Also about 3 years ago, we had a guy from G.R. area i think, stop in, he said he has a whole Rink Cleaning Machine. It was supposedly like on a trailer, and rolls around the rink cleaning Everything from the glass to the kick plates. He was gonna give us a hell of a deal to come do that, anyone else know of what/who I'm talking about? I'd like to try him some year.

Man that must be the life, back when I worked at my local rink, no lie, we hand washed, mopped, and scrubbed cement/wood bleachers in both rinks. Needless to say I quit soon after that. Working at that rink was one of the worst years of my life. Of course for a first job and getting free ice time when I could is what really kept me there. Gummer12 134 Report post Posted June 6, 2007 It's the First time that's been done since this place opened in 98. Otherwise it was mop and elbow grease. But we don't have all around stadium seating, just one side, about 10 rows, and 5 sections.

Gummer12 134 Report post Posted June 7, 2007 We've had a Graffitti remover over the years that works great at getting swear words off of walls, never thought about trying the rink glass.Where did you get yours at? Through a supplier, or a retail shop?
UMWhockey 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2007 We had the same kinda glass and used Puck-off. It had a horrible smell to it, but work well on both the glass and boards. Don't remember if we got it from becker or some other company since it has been a couple years since i left the rink management business
