Anyone going? Who's going to win? What do you think about a 280 yard par 3?

I have an all week pass but i'll only be at the course on monday, wednesday, saturday and sunday...

After the last 2 tournaments Tiger's had, if he doesn't putt any better, I predict he won't even make the cut. He's spraying the ball all over and made incredible saves just to make par the last two tournaments he's played. The kind of set-up the USGA does for the U.S. Open courses will not allow that to happen over an 18 hole round. He may very well win it, he is amazing but the way he's been playing lately, I would not be totally surprised if he doesn't make the cut. I say Mickelson or some fairly unknown golfer again breaks through for their first major.

There's actually a 280 yard par-3? That seems a little excessive, although the US Open always seems to have a crazy long hole every year.

I read in the latest issue of ESPN that this is supposed to be one of the hardest courses ever. Vijah thinks the winner could very well shoot between +5 and +10.

well last years open winner shot +5 so it's very reasonable to think that this years score could be close to that if not higher. the course is playing so hard right now that they've decided to trim the rough back slightly and slow down some of the greens. multiple reports say that some greens are going to be rolling slower for the open than they do for the members. adam scott played what he called a "near perfect" practice round last monday with conditions not quite at full difficulty and shot +1, saying if he shot that four days in a row (+4) he would be very happy with his chances. geoff ogilvy said that he would bet on more scores in the 90's than in the 60's.

my personal pick for the open is jim furyk. hometown boy from western pa, has an open victory already, has been very consistent over the past year, and a half and isn't the kind of player who finds a lot of trouble. i think other good picks would be adam scott or (obviously) tiger woods, who has been in town playing the course on about 4 occasions leading up to the open and seems to be very focused on winning, not to mention also seems to be due for a title.
