I looked into Sportime but the summer season started already. Skate Safe's doesn't start until July 6th. It seems like they are the only place that still is accepting teams, Hot Skates summer season also has already started.

Thanks for the info though, if you NY guys ever wanna come into Queens to play drop me a PM. After our rink gets finished, it's going to be super nice

do you guys have open hockey there?(pick up games)what type surface,size-indoor?

Yeah it's in a public park so we can play whenever we want. The lights when everything is completed will stay on until 9:30pm. Right now before the repairs we only play on Sunday mornings (getting ready to go down now actually) and on Thursday nights.

It's a full size rink and it's seal coated concrete, one of the best surfaces in the city. Everywhere else is just street asphalt that eats up your wheels in a second. I have some pictures I'll post later on today when I get back from playing.

the rink has definitely seen better days, but when it was in good shape it was awesome. I kind of gave up on it a few years ago as it really began to deteriorate and people stopped showing up.

I can't wait for them to renovate it.

Soon Pete soon lol......

It's like the rink is now my child or something. I can't wait for it to be done, more so than anyone else after all of the stuff I dealt with while trying to get the money from the city.

We are trying to get things set up how the league originally wanted it done when it was first built. Meaning, the benches would be put on the other side by the softball field, and the penalty boxes and the scorers table will remain on the basketball side.

We just started last week.

If any of you are playing there, look for the supercharged titanium M3 or Black M5. That would be me.

Indoor wheels on any type of concrete is a no go, unless you want to toss the wheels after a few short skates.

actually the wear on wheels and on blades was almost nonexistent on that rink. I would go for more than a month on a set of wheels skating there every day before needing to change them, and that included skating 6 blocks to/from the rink.
