I can't give my own personal opinion because I have never used or even touched an Itech Envy 7, but I've read some reviews on it. The reaction seems pretty mixed. One I've read said it feels heavy in your hand, but lightweight on your head, with a great feel. Another says the materials it is made from feels "cheap", and they've taken some nasty shots to the head courtesy of that frozen piece of rubber us goalies see all too much.

I'm going to put in a shameless plug for the Hackva mask. It has kevlar in the chin, forehead, and cheeks, is carbon fibre reinforced, and comes with a life-time warranty on the shell. All for the low price of around $350 CDN (non-painted; extra for a paint job + shipping). I'm hoping to do a full review in the near future, but I give it an A+. Great quality, great feel, great price.

those hackva masks seem very good for the price. i'm looking for anything that is a step up from my franklin which has taken a real hammering and i'm looking to spend up to a maximum of about $350 so if anyone else has any sugestions i'd like to hear them but i am intrested in hearing some more reviews on the envy 7 as it looks like a good new mask.

Go with anything but itech in my opinion, preferably, NXI or Eddy. Itech masks short of $500 aren't extremely protective and even then expect to pay $900+ for a high level itech mask(someone's got to pay the pro goalies that wear itech masks). NXIs are cheap in price and are EXTREMELY lightweight while still being very protective. Most goalies can get away with the phantom, which could probably be used even in advanced leagues without fear.

Here's another option for you:

Stacey Composites

This company has a wide range of helmets with different protection/build and is priced accordingly. Check out the "goalie", then "goalie mask", section of their site to see what I mean.

I've heard nothing but great things about their Customer Service. The same can't be said for NXi

I recommend spending a little extra money to get a good, protective helmet. This is your head we're talking about. The helmet is probably the most important piece of equipment you'll ever buy. So choose wisely. Don't short change yourself.

NXI has decent customer service, the problem is that I think there's very little people that work there... like under 10(last I heard). There were a lot of issues with CS when the boss took a vacation last year. I haven't really been keeping up with goalie equipment so my memory might be cloudy.

Definitely not discounting your post(Stacey is a great brand) but just adding onto it.

NXI's helmets are also one of the lightest helmet on the market.

True, true. Actually, I've never dealt with them so I, myself, don't really have an opinion about their CS. I'm just going by what I've read from others. Lots of raves, but some of the rants were

I've tried on a NXi, and it's definitely a comfortable, light-weight mask with lots of protection. Well, the Phantom. Haven't tried on a Nemesis :(

Hate to add to your confusion, but I'd like to recommend another mask that is a good value for the money.

Olie Masks...I have two of them and have been very happy with the fit and performance. The price was great especially considering that I got them with the great stock artowrk they offer. Lots of these puppies are offered on ebay stores so check them out.

Many shots to the noggin and the Olie masks stand tall.
