Skate question and statement

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I'm lookin into new skates, I was thinkin about the Bauer Vapor XXX until I read Netminder's review and noticed that NO NHLers seem to use them. Any ideas? The top of the line Graf's look nice but I dont like that huge toe cap, I'm afraid it will hinder my pads from turning when I butterfly. I'm using the Bauer Supreme 7000 right now, and honestly I'm considering RBK or Graf, the Vapor's I havent heard to much positive feedback on other than they are light. Also I just moved from Michigan to West Nyack NY....if anyone knows of anywhere good to skate out here I would appreciate it, I'm having trouble finding consistent ice.

Thanks guys!

The Graf no longer has the same toe, not that it hindered rotation in the first place. Graf is releasing a new skate a little later this year that will lighten their existing skate somewhat. Personally, I use Graf's and wouldn't change as I've yet to put on a skate that feels as good or performs as well.

Yeah I'm interested in the Graf G50's but I didnt think they were out yet. I heard sometime this summer but I didn tknow if they were out yet, and I noticed they got rid of the raised toe so I'm leaning towards the Graf G50's

I use the 9ks, most comfortable skate I ever worn, and best performing for me. Super light. The cowling and stainless steel blows away competition.

Don't worry about what the pros are using... is Luongo still using pro tacks?

It's all personal preference, don't let that kind of stuff influence your decision.

One thing to worry about with the Vapors is the cowling, there has been a lot of breakage issues BUT I'm not sure whether they've addressed the issue. I believe NBH has been offering replacement XX cowlings if it breaks(under warranty I assume).

Yeah I actually went out and looked at the Bauer XXX's, tried em on, moved em in held em, examined em, etc. and after that I think I'm going with the Graf Ultra G50's or the RBK's. I havent seen the Graf G50's on stores yet though and I dont want the 750 because of the toe so I may just end up waiting. But after seeing the XXX's and checkig out the cowling right off the shelf I could tell there was no way they would stand up to the kind of abuse I put my skates through.

The G50s are due out sometime late this month or next. The latest version of the 750s do not have the toe that you are so concerned about.
