Stiff, Durable and Comfortable

Recommended Posts

Hi, with this topic title in mind I'd like to welcome any and all suggestions.

P.S. I have a relatively low arch so I'd appreciate it if this is also taken into consideration.

Regards,

Nelson

You are talking about skates correct? You might want to mention that in your post.

To help you out, Id recommend going to your LHS and trying on different pairs to see what you like best.

if you do not need skates immediatly i would try to hold out for the 08' mission line, i was lucky enough to demo the BOSS skates, and besides the durabitly factor which i can not comment on using them only one time, but they are stiff enough without being stiff as a synergy skate, and if you have the correct foot shape they are very comfortable out of the box. i have found with the exception of the wicked line, mission has the most "generous" fitting type, without sacrificing performance.

It may help to list what you foot is like? Wide or Narrow Heel? Wide or narrow forefoot? etc.

If you have an LHS nearby though, go and try the skates on! Only you can determine what fits you best.

I second what he says. I was at the TORHS Nationals and saw them as well, and he let me try them on for just a bit. I usually tend to skate on missions, and i think it's the best feeling Mission that i've ever skated on. It's like CougarCaptain said, it's stiff enough for my satisfaction, but much more comfortable to skate on. Definitely a huge improvement from the Wickid line.

thaks guys for your help. I have a narrow heel and a relatively wide forefoot. I currently have a pair of CCM Vector PF 8's that are starting to really break down. I'm expecting to buy a top of the line skate 07 skate, just trying to hold on a little more to see if the 08 lines come out and probably get a bargain. I don't have a local hockey shop nearby so I must relly on past expeience and hope a future purchase works for me. Another question that I have regards Mission sizing. I've seen online the sizing charts that their skates fit true to shoe size but from what I've heard on these forums they fit like most brands, 1.5 sizes down. Is the Mission sizing like most of the other manufacturers, CCM for example?

Thanks in advance for all your help and effort.

Nelson

We fit a Full size down on average. Some people go only 1/2 size, and some, like myself, go down 1.5.

It is all preference on fit.

I hope you can help me Justin. I currently have a pair of CCM Vector PF8's and want either a pair of Mission Wicked 1's or 3's. My CCM skate size is 6.5 so what would be the equivalent Mission Wicked? I usually like a skate that fits tight otherwise I end up using 2 pairs of socks and I really hope to avoid this. Thanks for all and any help you can give me.

I received a pair test pair of the new tour skate. The Carbon and it may be another option you might want to look into. With it being a stiff skate. Stiffer then most tours and is still stiff after wearing them a couple months later. Sizing wise I wear a size 9 shoe and a sized 7.5 tour and size 8 mission skate.

So you'd say that my best bet would be to go with Wicked's a size down from my actual shoe size? I can't try on a pair and that really pisses me off that is why I'm asking all around in order to get the best fit with an online purchase. Thanks for the help.

I went down a size from my shoe size in my Wicked 3's, fit is fantastic for my tastes, toe just brushing the cap.

They are stiff though, and there is a break in period on the Wicked line, notably the 1 and 3's. Some people have had more problems than others.

Hi, thanks for the input. Did you have to bake you skates? Aside from baking, the old way of breaking in skates, wearing them, how long do you believe it will take to break in a pair of Wickd 1's?

I tried going down a full size but my foot was really cramped-I also like having my toe touch the toe cap. In my case I then had to go back up. 12 to 13. good luck.

I am sorry if I missed it but how many times did you bake them?

I baked mine once. I would really really suggest baking these, it was a world of difference once I got it done. Before baking it hurt my feet just to lace em up and sit there, but after baking they really softened up. I got them baked, sat in the store with them done up tight for a good 20 minutes or so, then went home put on some hot wet socks and put the skates on again tied up tight for maybe 45 mintues while I watched TV. Played with them the next night for the first time and had only mild discomfort.

To answer the previous question it took me about 4 or 5 games to break them in to the point where I had no pain or discomfort at all while skating.
