Response Plus

So I have been reading a lot of threads here lately and the response plus has been brought up in numerous topics, usually topics about the "best sticks", but no one has really explained what makes it so great. I was wondering what is good about this stick?

Yeah I read those, what I really wanted to ask is if anyone had any complaints about it, and how is the stick compared to other TPS sticks like the XN10 or one of the new R8's or R6's.

The XN10 is a bit lighter, and the blade seems a bit hotter, but it is, in my experience, much more fragile. The R+'s I owned felt good and took a beating without any issues in the durability department (they all eventually went soft, but I don't think I ever had one end-up in more than one piece). The XN10s I had were probably some of the best performing sticks I've ever owned, but their durability was for shit - problems with the shafts and blades. Being a guy who values performance over durability, I'd give the XN10 the nod over the R+...I've been scouring local shops in an attempt to find some retail XN10s on clearance, but I've had no luck.

I can't speak for the new TPS line (yet), but I'm looking to pick-up a few R8 shafts sometime in the near future...I'll be sure to post a review if I ever get my hands on some.

i second everything that lkpt tiger said. The performance of the xn10 is better but the response plus beats it in the durability category. I have had both of those sticks and loved them both.

Same blade in both. R+ is a great stick if you value durability over performance. At the closeout prices you should be seeing now, it's a fantastic deal. It's not that the performance is bad, it's just not at the same level as the SL or XN10. Just make sure it isn't one of those sportcheck SMUs, those are crap.

the resopnce + is a great stick... i went from that to using the new R6, the change wasn't hard at all... they feel pretty close except for the R6 has the grip zone. the blades feel slightly different but the change was extremely easy

That's why I say "seems" - it's mostly a matter of your feel for the stick. It might be the same blade, but the difference(s) in the materials/manufacturing in the XN10's shaft make the stick/blade feel "pingier" - I would go so far as to say "ceramic" even; very hard, very brittle (as a result, "boom" quite often resulted in something along the lines of "shatter"). The R+ stick/blade didn't have nearly as much vibration as the XN10, which is good, but the stick didn't have nearly as much pop.

Great, thanks for all the responses and information. Just one more thing in Chadd's post he says it isnt on the same performance level as the XN10 and SL, is this to say that the SL is going to have the same high level performance as the XN10?

The SL is a high-performance stick, yes. That said, I don't think the Easton shaft loads/kicks nearly as well as the TPS, the blade isn't as rigid and there are just as many (probably more) durability issues to be had.

If I had to choose between the XN10 and the SL, I'd go with the XN10 six days a week and twice on Sunday.

Nice analysis, I would have to agree with everything.

I've had two XN10's that lasted over a year - granted, they were both pro stock, so who knows how different they were from retail.

I've had two R2XN10 shafts that have held up for a couple years now. They hold up well for some people and not for others.
