Which shaft would you choose?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I could use some help. I'm looking to get a decent shaft to be a #2 stick. I've got limited funds since I just bought a bunch of other stuff. I have an AK-27 that I love and I use an AK-27 Weight blade, which I will also pair with my new shaft. Here are shafts I'm looking at:

RBK 5K

RBK 4K

Bauer ONE50

I'm not too familiar with these shafts, so any input would be appreciated.

why not get another ak27? This way if your starter breaks you know you have a stick that can perform the same and there wont be any adjustment time during a game.

I'd really like to, I just can't afford the extra money right now and I've only got the one ak. My other stick broke last night (the last of some custom wood Branches I had made a few years back), so now I need something good and cheap on the quick.

With those choices, 5k...I had a 4k and sold it, pretty heavy and not much kick to it. I wouldn't drop $40 on a mediocre shaft. I'm curious as to how well the 5k performs...I could use a standard shaft for outdoor practice.

i recommend the new ccm vector 6.0. it is in that price range, has a nice textured grip, and feels durable w/o the weight. i have a 4k and hate it because the shaft is so squared off it is quite uncomfortable to hold. i would be willing to ship you mine but its cut down and it would probly be cheaper to buy it new and have shipped.

Not sure what your price range is but I'd check out a One90 shaft if I were you. Solid and cheap.

Would you really say cheap?, he's looking at the one50 which is half the price of the one90. I'd suggest trying to save a little more money so you can a shaft like the one90 or AK27. Ive used both(onepiece one90) and are great performing sticks

I agree with mack. NBH did really great job on one90 shaft. My bro is using both for street and ice (keep switching blades). He really likes it. I'd also recommand to look on eastons such as cyclone and ultra lite.

since it's just a backup anyway, I'd go with a woodie for the time being. Save up a couple of bucks until you can pick up another AK.

The performance difference from the AK to the ones on your list is going to be evident.

From that list, I'd go with the 5K. It's rbks "best" standard shaft, as opposed to mid/lower end shafts.

TPS shafts you are able to find all over the place right now....in a handful of online retailers and ebay. And you can get it in the whip flex (not sure if that is what you want though). Aside from the one90, I don't think that there is a better shaft out there than a XN10 or other high end TPS shaft.

I say "cheap" because a quick search (and not checking out all the major sites) saw the 5K at $90. I can't imagine that being the price at bigger stores, but One90s aren't that expensive for as good of a shaft it appears to be.

for the price, the one90 is an excellent value. some of the best standard shaft performance out there. only drawback is the paint chips away with use, but that's just aesthetics.

Hey guys, thanks a lot for all your help. I'd like to stay below $70, but I might just suck it up and pay the extra few bucks for an AK or try out the one90 that everyone seems to like. Thanks again, I appreciate it.
