They run a morning session at the Harmarville Bladerunners. Looks like 9:30-11:30 Monday through Friday. I have no idea what the turnout is like. They have sessions in Cranberry as well.

Just a note...Thursday morning a lot of people still on vacation from college/highschool and some from work...turnout will be better than usual everywhere across the country. Food for thought.

Either Bladerunners are good. Except if you go this week there will probably be a ton of players wherever you go but being on the ice is good.

RMU sports center at Neville Island is pretty good as well or Ice Castle in Mt. Lebanon

if you go to hamarville leave your wallet and everything else in your vehicle - they have had a string of the locker rooms being raided by someone and wallets being emptied - otherwise its a pretty nice place

I've played in every rink in the pittsburgh area. Ice castle is one of the nicest and has sticktime, (which always turns into a pickup game) every weekday at 10:00am.

never take a chance and take your money in the locker room. Many times my friends would check their pockets only to find cash was missing, be it in wheeling, ice castle, rostraver...

always lock your locker room

two weeks ago someone stole $40 out of my jeans in ice castle. if i caught them in the act they'd be decapitated with my stick

Where is Ice Castle? I usually go to sticktime at Nevin in Greensburg and went to pickup at Harmarville last week, only 6 people showed up. I am looking for a more regular pickup game if that is at all possible around here. Thanks.

Cause that entire rink is a piece of shit. The ice is soft, the boards are one good hit from falling down (I've been hit through the door there, at both ends, on several occasions) and every locker room except the CCAC one is mediocre. Not to mention, but last year there was hardly anyone ever there for pickup. The mens league looked like it had a moderate turnout though, but they play nights after the public skate at like 11 and thats not what he's lookin for.

In the 'burgh area there are much nicer rinks that I would rather go to that are the same distance as ICP is or less..

I like Valley's ice.

Did they invest anything into Ice Connection? I've been there before and seen sand coming up in the corners, and the edging is always bad at that place by mid season. Putting in the high glass helped the rink overall a little bit, but the ice is soft and slow and ruts up way to fast.

Last year the Ice Connection dumped a ton of money into the ice system. It is now just a horrible rink as opposed to a dump.

another heads up,

stay away from Rostraver. that place is a bigger dump than airport ice arena. the boards are sunk into the ground and under the stands (yeah its sucked getting hit there). also the padding of the floor on the bench area has really worn out next to door where everyone goes out, so your skates will scrape on the bare cement. The showers were always cold. The whole rink is just in need of a bulldozing.
