Roller associations

Hi, I noticed that you guys still had more than one association for the game there in the states, and was wondering who was linked with say the PIHA, and college hockey?

i play with a University of Michigan tournament team. i'm not a student or club member though. I will be playing with the macomb Marnarchs this next season in the MCRHL.

I play rec leagues through SIHA and will be trying out for the minors for my local PIHA team the Colorado Thunder. SIHA is huge in Colorado and has strong ties to the Rocky Mtn PIHA division.

If you are referring to the NGB, that would technically be USARS (it has always been). AAU is the insurance carrier for USARS and is also with the PIHA. USAIL has been in fierce competition with the AAU for as long as I've known the sport however, depending on who you talk to, according to a myriad of rumors USAIL has sort of widdled it's way out of Inline hockey and has put a focus on ice.

Both have run team usa programs and have sanctioned with various tournaments and leagues over the years which leads to a lot of confusion amongst most of those who are involved with the sport...

Hope that spreads a little light. I've been working in the sport for years and and still get confused over the whole thing at times

In australia we are linked with the FIRS internationally, and the old association was linked with IIHF.

They use smaller goals in FIRS while they use Icehockey goals in IIHF right?

Correct at international level.

We play to FIRS in one UK association, but play with full size nets.

I play with a couple of guys that play with Midwest Tornados in PIHA West division.. my brother may try out at the end of the month. If I weren't so busy and unable to travel, I'd tryout.

I usually play with a lot of the junior typhoon travel team, including hoffer on this board, as well as many PIHA york typhoons and harrisburg lunatics.

I would have tried out for PIHA, but i'm currently at college so that is not feasible.

I was hoping to play for university of maryland roller hockey echra team, but it appears they are not having a team this year.
