Supreme Classic Gold vs. Supreme 8090?

Recommended Posts

Don't know if this has been covered before, but these were both priced as top end skates a few years back.

Just wondering if anyone has any experience of both?

I know the 8090 is a great skate, but how does the Classic Gold compare in terms of durability, weight, etc?

Is there a review of the Classic Gold around anywhere?

Thanks.

Similar fit, however much more padding and much more heavier.

I have had both (still have 8090s). As JR said.... and the 8090's are stiffer. The Golds seem to soak up water and became bricks in relatively short order.

thanks a lot for the input. how are the classic gold's on durability?

i ask because i'm looking for a high-end old-school bauer stitched boot that will last. ideally i'd like the 8090 but so far have only found one pair in my size (11.5D) but for silly money (although i'm sure they're worth every cent). i've also found a pair of classic gold and a pair of 5090s, one of which i'll probably buy as an interim pair until i find some 8090's. obviously the S9's would be sweet but it doesn't look like those are available to non-pros aside from ebay etc.

i guess to solve the water issue i could use a thin coat of protectoe all over, but that would add yet more weight.

any more info on the classic gold or 5090? as i said my main concerns are weight (answered by JR) and durability.

thanks again.

After the 8090 what is the 2nd best skate? How do the 5000's and 8000's compare?

Also worth asking because there are no reviews on any of these except for the 8000's.

Did I miss any others? 7000's? 6500's? I read the review on the 6000 which didn't sound too good.

I'm really interested to know about fit, weight, and durability of the boot (prob going to fit LS2 power runners anyway).

It'd be useful to work out a hierarchy of classic style bauer supremes, as some shops still have them, and there are quite a few on ebay.

From what i've read it goes something like:

8090

8000?

Classic Gold?

5090?
