Steel size question

Recommended Posts

My buddy got some ebay Bauer 6500s as a gift. They are basically in new shape but didn't have laces or footbeds. I was looking at them and the steel in the custom+ holders looks to be about 1/16" (or so) too short for the holders on the front and back. They don't rattle or anything though.

Did someone put steel in that was slightly too small?

Is that possible?

My skates are eastons and vectors his others are missions, so we have no custom+ holders to compare against.

Thanks!

when i had custom+ on my old skates there was a small gap from steel to the end of the slot on the holder and toe and heel side aswell, i beleive it is normal. unless all 3 of us got jacked up holders.

I think that would be close to impossible. I bought 263mm steel and received 254 by mistake, but before realizing it I tried to mount the 254mm steel. I spent about half an hour wiggling it back and forth on the mounting screws before I came to the realization that I had the wrong size. The way that the screws match up with the steel is fairly precise and they won't drop back into the holder if they're crooked at all. So, I think your friend's skates are fine.

that's what i figured too.

thinking about it more, the gap is probably much smaller than the plastic overhang of the holder.

thanks!
