LHS versus online shopping

My LHS is great, spent over an hour getting me in the right fitting skate, plus I usually all my stuff there for myself, daughter and wife now too. HOWEVER. I did buy a XXXX online for $89.00US (convert to Cdn is pretty much only 6 or 7% now), plus $13 shipping = $103.00US. To buy this stick here in Canada at said LHS, they are probably at least double that. That is an instance where I will buy online.

The difference in pricing from HG for example in the US to Can is crazy, even with the dollar values being virtually par. Plus, the CDN version of online places like HG or the monkey - there is no savings at all, that you can't get at a LHS. I understand HG not shipping to Canada to protect the distributors here, luckily I have a US warehouse at my workplace. :) But...... what is the deal with the big difference in pricing using the example I have above.....?
