Getting Skates fitted properly near Toronto airport

Recommended Posts

I will be passing through Toronto airport in a couple of weeks time. Ideally I would like to take a taxi to a decent hockey store and get a pair of skates. Somewhere with lots of different types and sizes along with good advice if possible. I will be pushed for time so I only really want to go to one or two places. Searching this forum has brought up Hockey Experts at Woodbridge and Hockey Life at Vaughan Mills. Is there anywhere else worth considering?, are these two worth trying?

Thanks

You could also try one of the Just Hockey stores in Toronto, there are two I believe, look online and you should be able to find them. The one is much larger and is probably a better bet, but I think it may be kind of far from the airport. Hockey Experts is quite good, haven't tried Hockey Life yet.

You could try Duke's Sports. I haven't been there myself, but I've heard their prices are pretty good and some here and a few friends offline have said their service is good. They're located at 3876 Bloor St. West. Phone: 416-233-2011. That's not too far from the Airport.

The staff at the Just Hockey near me is knowledgeable and have treated me well over the years - I almost always get my skates done there, have gotten roller boots mounted there, some repairs done and have bought a few other pieces of equipment like a cage, a few stick blades and some shafts, but I haven't purchased skates there before. I'd trust them for fitting though - the prices aren't cheap when compared to the US or online with the exception of the odd special, but they're generally competitive with the other stores within a 20 minute drive or so (Nationals, Sport Check - usually within 10% of their prices, if not the same) and they do have knowledgeable staff in my experience. The location near me isn't close to the Airport though - they do have another on Finch that's a little closer, but still not as convenient as Duke's from the Airport.
