Old v New Bauer Equipment

Recommended Posts

Just 2 quick questions. Ive found a pair of last years Bauer 8000 Lightspeed shoulder pads for $70. Does anyone think the new pair this year is so much better that its worth spending $30 more for them. Same with Bauer Girdles. Does anyone think the old Bauer MBP8 is better or is the new one90 better, or are they the same thing? Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks guys, strangely enough, I save money on the shoulder pads getting the older model, but not the girdle. The MPP8 is more expensive for some reason than the one90. Last question, MPB8 or the tackla 4000 girdle?

Tackla is more protective.

Chadd, am I making a mistake buying a girdle for protection when I am about to start a season of full check hockey, which I have not played for a long while?

Dont keep your bad habits from non checking hockey (head down)... I would go with the more protective though, as long as the increase in weight isnt too much.

Biggest way you will notice less protection with a girdle is either getting a slapshot in one of the gaps or landing on you ass. I've worn one for the last 20 years and could never go back. At the time I was a late adoptee, I'm pretty resistant to change.
