Cage question

Recommended Posts

I first bought a medium itech RBE III and it was too long so I reterned it for a small. Even though the cage fits good the way it sits in the helmet seems really screwed up. When I put the helmet and cage on with the cup on my chin the cage sits about half an inch lower than the j-clips. Is the cage supposed to sit in the j-clips when its on?

My helmet is a bauer 5000 from a few years ago by the way.

The cage doesn't have to sit in the j-clips. They're mainly there to prevent the cage from pushing into the helmet.

When I had an Itech cage and bucket, the cage never went completely in the clips.

Not sure what size helmet you have, but here's a handy cage/bucket compatibility chart:

if the cage is tight and secure on your chin I don't think it should be a problem. Sometimes when watching NCAA a lot of the players wear their cages very loose and they flop around and didn't sit on the j-clips that is slightly dangerous.

EDIT: Dr Hook beat me to it
