Shaft Flex for outdoors

Recommended Posts

is it a problem to go for a 100+ flex for outdoors? i usually play with a 85 flex which is fine, but i might be able to get a 110 shaft for cheap. dunno if they break more often or anything like that.

You can use the stiffer flex on outdoors.....but the main issue will be that inline pucks are lighter than an ice puck, and the lighter weight will make it more difficult for you to load your shaft during a shot and get the "whip" through your shot with a stiffer flex.

since I play outdoors on asphalt a lot, I find that i like a stiffer stick for roller than for ice- i use the friction of the blade on the floor to get a bit more whip.

Trajik- if the 85 works well for you, I wouldn't deviate too much. See if any of your friends/teammates have a 110 flex that you can try out.

been using whippier flexes all along, except for that one year with a 100 flex. I've found that I get a lot more zip with a whip flex, and dont have to exert as much strength as some of the other guys. Technique and practice.

If you can get the shaft for cheap, then why dont just try it. You can always sell it off here if you dont like it.
