Doctor Hook 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2007 I recently switched from 26 to 2 on my new beer league squad. Being a defenseman, I've always admired the great blueliners who rocked the deuce: Leetch, MacInnis, Shore, Wesley, et al. Also, since I've joined a new team and moved back to Boston, I decided it was time for a fresh start and look. I always had an informal jersey numbers rule for hockey: - Goalies should only wear 1, anything in the 30s, or maybe high 20s or early 40s - Defensemen wear 2-6, or 14 and above- Forwards should wear 7 and above- Goons should wear high 20s or football linemen numbersJust my goofy opinion. B-Nads 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2007 Well, I wasn't on here in '05, so I'll chip in.I used to wear 10 when I was a kid - Lafleur. When I was in my teens it was all 8 - Neely. After playing on a team where some other Cam fan snagged 8, I grabbed 19 - Sakic.I now have 2 jerseys I wear in my beer league - 57 - the birthdays of my two sons...definitely not for Garth Murray, and 73 - I am the only Newf in the league, so I figured I'd take Ryders number as a joke. Wolfpack_1986 154 Report post Posted October 18, 2007 39... an older friend who i look up to a bit wears it. though, he's a center as am I... i know its usually a goalie number, never asked him why he picked it. it's just what he's worn through the time his career took off
raygunpk 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2007 71. I wanted 17 because it's my birthday but it was taken, and I've stuck with 71 since. Plus Malkin rocks my world.
rwclifto 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2007 Used to wear #9 as a kid (Adam Graves). A few years later I sported #36 because of Barnaby. When I was in net as a kid I wore #39 for Cloutier. Currently wearing #27 in my beer league because I really didn't have a choice.
