killthepoodle 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2007 I own a company that utilizes a number of Macs......usually I am loathe to upgrade anything do to the inevitable "charlie foxtrot" that is an apple upgrade, but today i got bored and picked a copy of leopard and installed it on my macbook pro. I am very impressed. It is fast, stable, and most of the new features are incredible. I love the new finder. So far all my pro apps are behaving (photoshop, final cut studio, etc)....and I upgraded, I dd not do a fresh install. Coverflow is great and the OS feels snappier than tiger. I played with mail some and it is very very responsive- something that I found lacking in previous iterations of mail. Safari 3 seems solid, though for me firefox is still faster and more convenient.I still wont upgrade the editing machines for some time (as there are sporadic reported issues with final cut studio), but for the admin machines and traveling laptops I think it is great- coverflow makes going through a ton of similar contracts and/or photos a snap. No more starting photo mechanic just to browse photo libraries.I'll bring two machines on the road next week, a tiger and a leopard laptop and repost back after a week of use.Oh.....and the spaces feature is great..........I'm sure its going to be one of those things I wasnt sure how I lived without before. hockeyherb 1 Report post Posted October 28, 2007 Count yourself lucky. I stupidly bought the upgrade today and tried to install it on my iMac. It installed ok but now I'm having tons of issues of the machine just freezing up and programs not responding. To anyone thinking of upgrading, read the discussion boards on apple.com. There are a ton of people with dead machines now because of this POS. Of course it worked for some people but you're taking a risk if you buy it and upgrade now.And I don't have anything weird installed on my Mac. It came from the factory exactly the way it is today so I know it's not some weird 3rd party conflict.

Jarick 5 Report post Posted October 29, 2007 Does the new Safari support Google aps? That's my big hangup right now. And Firefox is just buggy/memory hog. I've been doing okay with Camino though.Going to wait on Leopard...although the new Finder sounds like what I wanted since I switched from Windows.

hockeyherb 1 Report post Posted October 29, 2007 Got my problem fixed today. If you have DivX on your Mac, delete it or rename the folder before you install. Crazy, but it's been causing many people lots of issues. Once I was able to delete that folder it worked like a charm.

D3nZ 0 Report post Posted November 1, 2007 I just received my speakers, but my computer is still in China, I am impressed with the accesories shipment but not with the computer. My package was taken off the flight in China because the plane had too much stuff on it and in total it should take about 10 business days to get here even though I took the fast shipment. I have everything ready to go here, but only thing I can do is admire my things right now.

D3nZ 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2007 I had a drop in disk in my package, upgrade took about 2 hours and everything is running smoothly. Now it`s file transfer time, I am putting everything in my Shared Files on my PC and going to grab everything on my Mac via wireless connection and Airport. About half of my mp3`s are in my new computer and all my personal files and photos also.
strosedefence34 175 Report post Posted November 8, 2007 I don't get why you guys are waiting, I haven't had a single problem. My friend upgraded his powerbook the other day and yesterday it crashed. He had problems with it before the upgrade but I need to wait till I get this photo project out of the way first. I also just put a gig of ram in my little powerbook and I love it. Moves so much faster then the 512 it came with.
