CCM, Bauer boot and holder pitch

Recommended Posts

I did a search on this but CCM was tricky with the 3 letter minimum.

How are CCM Vector (Pro) and Bauer Vapor (XIX) boots pitched? And the E-Pro & Lightspeed holders?

The search results I did find were confusing cause the different mods posted different answers.

correct me if wrong, i know the ccm tacks have a heel lift built into the boot, that would cause the player to feel more on the toe on the blades, where as bauer, has no heel lift.

I was told by a rep a CCM/RBK that the Vectors, K, and Tacks boots are slightly forward pitched on a neutral holder - the RBK's more so than the CCM's - to what degree this is noticable comes down to personal preference, I guess. When I switched from my Mission L4's, that were set at +1 (full forward) to my Vectors I did not not notice a major change in pitch - when I put heel lifts in my Vectors I noticed they were more forward than the Missions were. After that I went to Bauers and nearly cracked the back of my skull first time out - lol.

E-pros, prolites, LS2 and LS2P are neutral pitched, custom+ is more on your heels. THC skates(more specifically the boot) are slightly on your toes, NBH skates(boots) are slightly on your heels.

So does this mean if I want a forward pitch on my Bauer Vapors with Lightspeed 2's, I'd have to have the holder profiled very forward very aggressively to make up for the reverse pitch of the boot?

you could just try a heel lift

I had my skates profiled to be the equivalent of about a 2mm heel lift and I find it to be a hair more on my heels than my tacks were. I think the magic number might be 3mm... But I have found that I have better edge control with my new profiling job.

Keep in mind that I haven't skated on my tacks in about 5 1/2 months.
