Carbon vs. Portofino shell on Eagle gloves

Recommended Posts

Is there any differences between these two shell types? Does one weigh more than the other? Is there a difference in break-in type?

Thanks for the input. It's been quite a few years since I had a pair and i'm thinking about the x72. I just don't know if there are any differences in the outer material of the glove.

I've heard that MIA's carbon has durability issues. However, I don't know if this is due to MIA and their methods, or if the same is true for Eagles.

The Carbon on my MIA MB-33's was stiffer at first but broke in nicely, but I have been having durability issues out of the material. Very strange for me to have the backing of the glove wearing out before the palms.

Holy old topic batman.

Personally, I would go tufftek. It's basically nylon. Carbon seems to get marked and roughed up fastest.

I have had porto and tuff tek, the tuff tek is lighter and dries out a lot faster and in my experience. As for durability I had good experiences with both and found that both materials wear similarly, the main difference is the amount of moisture porto retains while playing. All in all I think tuff tek is the best all around material for the exterior shell.
