hockeyplayah18 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2007 hey guys, I'm starting a men's league tomorrow and I just wanted to hear some opinions on what the play is like..the league im in is the second most competitive league. I'm trying to get back in shape for college tryouts. I've been a travel player for 7 years but i want to know how rough it is out there even though it says no hitting. Chadd 916 Report post Posted November 5, 2007 Every league at every rink is different
hunterphfr 12 Report post Posted November 5, 2007 Even within a league or team it can be different depending on what your trying to get out of it, and your level of intensity/physical style of play.
Doctor Hook 0 Report post Posted November 6, 2007 It also depends on the refs and how much they let go. If they do their job and make fair calls, the game can usually police itself. If they're just collecting donut dollars and don't give a rip, then it may be a hackfest.
joelnmich 0 Report post Posted November 6, 2007 Check the league out and then don't be afraid to quit if the league is dangerous.
hockeyplayah18 0 Report post Posted November 6, 2007 oh its not that, im just tryin to get a feel for what type of contact will be going on because im debating whether im going to wear my new visor or stick to my cage
D aka speck 0 Report post Posted November 6, 2007 I say... start with the cage. Don't second guess your own safety. If you think you'll be better off in the visor, by all means, switch. But, don't make that assessment till you get there my friend.EDIT: spelling
Toonces 0 Report post Posted November 6, 2007 It's impossible to know without being familiar with the league itself. Like Chadd said, it varies from rink to rink, league to league. If you are apprehensive at all, use your cage.
