Little help with my One-90's

Recommended Posts

Although I love my One-90 skates as far as comfort. I originally had said that they were fine. I may want to take that back. Before when I was describing them I have never played a game in them yet. The place where I play open hockey has it Tuesday thru Fridays. Wednesdays I am the only one there. I like going on Wednesday's so I can work on things, break in new equipment etc. Well to make a long story short I recently tried to play a game in them and now I have a whole new outlook on them. Now I am realizing that I have problems with them as far as turning. I feel at times that I am back on my heels. I had some issues with them before but, I thought they would go away but, I guess I was wrong. I guess it's more noticeable in the high intensity of a game. What can I do? Anybody with the same problems. Thanks

depends on what you had before...

you can profile or use heel lifts but this might be caused by the lenght of the blade so profiling could also help or just change blade...

Trust me, if the only issue is blade feel and the boot is fine, go to your store and explain the problem, they sould be able to suggest something, i would start with a 3mmm heel lift and test that out...

Exactly, what skates did you have before? You will get use to your skates. I remember going from old Supremes to Vapors and was really surprised at how much I was on my heels with the new skates. I fell a few times but now wouldn't change a thing. I am glad you are happy with the comfort because you can do something about the blades

I would say give it a chance and see after a few games. If not you could get the blades profiled.

Don't blame the skates they are doing what they are intended to!

The reason why you feel like you are "more back on your heels" is because the One90s are doing a great job of locking your heel in place. I felt the same way so I added lifts and problem solved. I'd do what DJ says and explore the possibility of getting lifts installed before profiling because there's not alot of steel in the in the first place.

As a Bauer tester told me today it's not necessarily what's best it's what you're used to. Another way of saying personal preference, I guess.

I had the same issues but got use to them. The holders and steel both cracked within 3 months so I thought to myself might as well experiment.

I changed my holders to Mission Pitch 3s. Started on neutral and am currently using the +1 setting. Problem solved.

I admit to liking the original holders' rigidity and even the steel. Not their length though. Guess I can dream of the day they make one with a plus one forward pitch in a regular length.

The skate is not the sturdiest but it's one hell of a skate in my opinion, of course.

Heel lifts or radiusing the steel with some pitch does wonders for the one90s. I can't even tell you how many people were ready to ditch those skates that were "saved" by some pitch.

I am not going to ditch them. They were expensive I will make them work somehow. Unfortunate though I don't have knowledable proshops around where I live anymore. Most if not all are owned by big business and the help is like a revolving door. Every time I walk onto most of them it seems like new help. If anyone who lives in the South Jersey, Philadelphia area who knows of a place that has a knowledgeable proshop staff please let me know. Not act stupid but what radiusing?
