What is a reasonable price that you would buy a used stick for?

Recommended Posts

Hi, first time poster, long time reader.

I hope this new topic hasn't been covered yet but I think I'm in the right section for it.

What do you guys feel is a fair price to pay for a used stick? I know this is a very open-ended question with a lot of factors to consider but let's say that the stick is in good condition, meaning that it is used only weekly, or twice a week at the most and in low-level pickup games. Would you guys pay half price for that? Rather, what kind of formula would you use to determine a stick's value? I'm trying to figure out what I should sell my sticks at because my stick whore-dom has finally caught up with me. I have way too many different lie's and curves but have finally found what suits my style of play. I guess that's what you get when you have zero responsibilities and have accumulated a good amount of money to blow on an expensive hobby.

*edit* I am not intending on selling any sticks on MSH as I prefer to keep things local. I'm just asking for references sake since I've been having difficulty getting rid of my sticks on craigslist. slow market maybe?

*edit 2* I'm trying to sell an intermediate vapor XX with a pm9 curve (that's a stick with a lie of 5 and a 3/8" mid-heel curve). i'm also trying to sell mission l-2 shaft/blade combos. The XX is the newer of the batch so I figure it should sell for more.

I would recommend editing your original post with the details of the sticks you want to sell.

AND understand that you are not yet elligable to buy/sell/trade on MSH yet. Leave the question open.

60% of the value new is a fair rule of thumb if it is in good shape, unless it is a really hot item at the moment in which case you may be able to get better return. If it is a mission, montreal, something ppl don't normally gravitate towards stick, you will probably have to eat more cash from what I have seen. More often than not, guys price themselves out of range b/c they don't take into consideration just how flooded the market is with cheap sticks right now that are brand new and perform well or better.

I do pretty much the same thing as Blues91.... if their in good condition I sell them at 50%

If their in mint condition or used for less than 3 times, I sell them from 60-80%

If their are very game-used, I'll sell them as low as 20%. Usually shafts I've used for a long time, that I then pair with a rb in a curve I've tried but don't like. (my big weakness is buying too many different curves to try out)

Usually the shaft is pretty close to retirement, so I sell the shaft and the very slighty used rb for the original price of the rb. That way the other guy gets a decent deal and I get rid of an ill-purchased rb.
