Help for a beginner

Recommended Posts

hey guys,

my friend is interested in buying some new skates.

based on features alone, not fit (both skates fit him), which skate is better

something like the vapor xvi or the vector 4.0?

thanks

well, the XVI would be the lighter of the two and probably the stiffer as well. its a pretty good begginer skate depending on how big this guy is. do you happen to know how much he weighs/how tall he is?

id say either of those would be a solid choice

like jimmy says though, the Vecotr is heat moldable, so if he goes for that it will give him that extra little bit of comfort and customization. it all comes down to comfort though, go for whichever fits better

its more than likely he'll be skating at most once a week, for public skating rather than hockey. he's just tired of the crappy rental skates, and i'm sure either one of the skates would be good for him

Well, for session skating it shouldn't really matter. You don't really need any protection. The main thing is that they fit, also the Vector4 are softer, they might be better for a beginner skater than the stiffer Vapor.

well he picked the Vector 4.0 SE's (i honestly cant stand the look of them, too flashy with the chrome exo-skel)

eh, but its his choice not mine

The colour scheme on the Vapor skates isn't exactly low key either. Both are fairly flashy skates if you asked me. It just a matter of which one you prefer. Different strokes for different folks, as they say.
