well obviously you didnt read my post i said we should trade sundin to chicago cause it could help them and we could get some draft pick prospects and what not and we wuldnt have to see him the resto f the year or wouldu rather trade him to ottawa or montreal and see him 4-6 and a stanly cup ?

No i understood your post, but no matter what if they trade Sundin they will want to get the best return so if thats Ottawa and we see them 4 more times then so be at. We don't want it to be like the last 2 years where we were one point out of the playoffs and get a mediocre draft pick. If we really wanted to garantee we didn't see him this year we would send him to the northwest.

Oh don't worry JFJ only has never played hockey in his life.

We should trade more then just Sundin in my opinion, no one comes to mind yet though. Just look what Edmonton did last year they had about 3 first rounders.

The problem with that is that is its Toronto(not the team the city). Everyone who doesn't know really understand the elague or game wants a winner. I would love to have 3 first rounders, but Toronto wants a winning team. We could make gretzky come back and half the city would be designing a parade and stocking up on Canadian for the cup win.

Toronto has all their picks this draft, except their 2nd rounder. They have an extra fifth though.

Maybe...they gave up either their 2007,2008 or 2009 first round pick to San Jose for Bell and Toskala. It is San Jose's choice as which year they exercise the option on the pick.

haha yea no one understand this team need some serious rebuilding they just think its toronto they should win every year but untill JFJ is gone and the people who own the leafs there will never be a winner. cause all they care about is money and dumb rich people wil lalways go to leaf games in suits to talk buisness instead of cheer and hope! it just they way it will be so just get use to it i guess. we all know what should happen but it wont

Toronto's biggest problem is that they don't have a single owner they have the teachers pension plan. If the leafs had an owner who realized not making the playoffs lost him money there would be changes made immeadiatley. As long as JFJ is leading the ship they'll find the end of the earth and fall off it.

yea but its just getting ridiculous with the whole not making the playoff they wanna blame they players and what not but get better owenership, new GM, and maybe i new coach although i dont mind PM but i gurentee u will see a huge difference in this team within one or 2 years. and we will be a winner again. somone who cares about hockey.

If JFJ wasn't rubbing Peddie the right way Bowman would have been here JFJ would have been gone and the leafs would not have the problems they do now. i think their will be a big difference onceJFJ gets the boot.

They've used it. They moved the optional picks to move up and get Couture.

Wait, your suggesting that the Teacher's pension wants to lose money? That's garbage, the pension plan may be the problem because there is distention among the upper ranks, but that's a personnel problem. The best way for the Leafs to make money is by winning the cup. Everyone knows this, so it's not a secret that winning = money.

The goaltending is a definite issue. Both are allowing over 3 goals a game and save percentage under .900. The defense corp is one of the weakest in the league.

Goaltending has actually been decent this year. A few games they've looked like the rest of the team, but overall team defense has been a joke. They have 6 D-men, who can all play well, but seem to be forced to do things that don't suit their game. Raycroft and Toskala have played well, but the Leafs allow few shots and tons of chances (in relation to shots). They'll press for 3-4 minutes, then give up a break-away. Press for a period then allow 4 odd man rushes. They don't generate chances very well, so to create scoring chances they make risky plays. It doesn't work out well for them. One they changed the defensive system (limited sample), the GA dropped pretty good and the goalies save% came back to respectable.

Dialogue has resumed between Scotty Bowman and the board of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment aimed at working out a deal so the nine-time Cup-winning coach and one-time player personnel director would become the Toronto club's president and director of hockey operations, Slap Shots has been told.

This was from today's NY Post, Larry Brooks' column. This will only help if Scotty gets to clean house entirely. As long as the ACC sells out and the money train is moving, the fans will get the shaft. The Rangers did this to their fans for 7 years straight.

Bowman will definately clean house if he comes in. I've heard he wants Yzerman to be the GM.

The ACC will sell out no matter what happens, but the owners understand their is significantly more money to be made with playoff games. Playoff tickets double in price, and merchandise sales pick-up. It makes no sense for a business like MLSE to become complacent.

Merging with the draft Question thread, since they'll both end up in the same direction.

As for what's wrong. They needed a good start. PM has now lost the room, the team is not interested and in a downward spiral. They should've been a playoff team, but the systems used to start the year were terrible and invited alot of the collapses we saw. This team was never destined to contend, but had the ability to surprise. It reminds me of the later Fletcher team's with Ridley and Gagner, which should've been better than they were, but simply didn't perform. Could be compared to Philly last year as well.

No,no what i meant was that if there was a single owner he would see that he could generate more money by making the playoffs and because hes a 1 or 2 man team they'd be more invovled with the day to day. The pension plan just see's positive numbers all the time because no matter how bad the leafs are the fans fill the seats.

Edit- just realized i said pretty much the same thing as eazy did

1.They need some legit defensemen. McCabe hasn't been doing anything to help out on defense, or offense for that matter. The only decent defenseman is Kaberle and he can't be on the ice all the time. They're first in the league in goals against, with 86, the next closest is Atlanta with 78. Giving up a lot of goals like that may work for a team with a very productive offense, but the leafs don't have that.

2.They need to get Blake going. He hasn't scored in 15 games, or something ridiculous like that, and he only has 2 goals on the year. Not very good for someone who scored 40 last year.

It's a good thing he doesn't have something to fight off the ice like cancer though.

Not to be a dick, but it's a non life-threatening form of cancer that I believe is treated solely with a pill.

He's a professional hockey player, if his medical condition isn't allowing him to play up to his potential then he shouldn't be playing. I'm sure Blake wouldn't use the cancer as an excuse for his poor results thus far and it's dumb for anyone else to.

If you are a semi big name free agent signing who was brought in to be a first line winger and you are on pace for 7 goals, then cancer or not, you need to step it up.

Gill hasn't been too bad this year he's done pretty good on Defense with his long stick and big body.

Gill has been very good....but when you have three D-men making $15 million combined but you've got Hall Gill and The Woz out there taking a regular shift against Jaromir Jagr, well that's how you end up as the worst defensive team in hockey.
