RBK 7k OPS vs Shaft+blade

Recommended Posts

These 7k OPS are getting expensive. Considering moving to a shaft+blade... to those who have used both, can you tell the difference?

No one I skate with uses the combo, but I would love to try before I buy... Tired of going through $300 worth of sticks every couple months.

i dont quite understand what youre asking. but i know i use shaft/blade combos religiously, i cant find anything btter. ive gone the ops route a few times, and wasnt the biggest fan of the feel/kick i got from them compared to tapered shafts(weird i know)

I am asking this... if you are used to playing with a 7k OPS... and you closed your eyes and someone put a 7k that takes replacement blades in your hands, could you tell the differnce?

About the only difference that you would be able to tell would be that the stick would now feel more blade heavy (combo) due to the hosel needed to insert into the shaft.

you'll notice a difference in weight still.. It might be the tenon size or the glue but something adds some weight to the combo.

Guess my senses arn't sensitive enough to notice anything out of whack cause that's two to one so far :P I personally can't tell from the ones I've picked up and used.

It could be more than 5 grams, a gram is such a small amount of weight but thats not the point. I think a lot of hosels and tenons might differ from the OPS to combo setup... The combos always feel more blade heavy.

This isn't something that a larger knob and longer handle can't fix but that wasn't part of the question.
