Goalie Bag - Need suggestions

Recommended Posts

Im in need of a hockey goalie bag. Here are the requirements:

Inexpensive (around <$80)

Able to hold 32" leg pads with all equipment

Rollers would be nice

Decent build quality

I currently have a Bauer bag made for player equipment that I got for Christmas many, many years ago and the bottom is starting to tear. I know one day its fully going to give out but Id like to be that happen AFTER I get a new bag, hopefully for this Christmas. So any suggestions? Thanks.

The McKenney 852 (I think) bags are re-branded versions of the SMI Monster Wheel Bag, which is bar-none the best wheel bag ever made. Easily holds 38" pads and XXL NHL-sized gear, and the construction is better than anything else around. Look for the letters "SMI" on the rivet-heads, and you'll know you have a winner.

the Vaughn one is a little too expensive, I'm already getting a 360 for Christmas so it can't be that much, preferably under $80. Could I also get links to the actual store's item? Thanks again.

Why does that make you sad? I've carried all my gear in a single bag for some time now.

Me too. It's quite convenient having everything in one bag.

save up a little extra from christmas and get this one

i can fit all my equipment and more in it and it has wheels - if thats too expensive then maybe someone else on here can point you in the right direction.

I know a couple guys that had problems with them. I wouldn't touch one with a ten foot pole.

I went through 2 of those vaughn roller bags in one year, they suck, on both of them the zippers fell off and the stiching is very cheap and poorly done.

Alls I would look for is a big, roomy bag, with no special compartments (many one or two small ones for misc stuff, clothes, etc), because it saves a lot of space this way (or rather, doesn't have unnecessary space).

I know of a goalie who uses the TPS R8 bag, and I'd recommend it. http://www.hockeygiant.com/tpsr8tmglbg.html

Will that be enough to hold all of my stuff including 32" leg pads? Thanks.

Keep us posted, I too am looking into a new bag. Will it be big enough for the pillows too? Any estimates on a time frame for launch?

I can't believe this! I got the bag for christmas and I was so happy about it. Everything was working great, until recently. I just noticed that the bottom lining where the side meets the base, right under the bottom handle, is ripped! What do I do? My mom threw out the receipt for Consignment Sports (for those Central, NJ people) so what do I do? Do I go back to the store? Do I contact Nike Bauer? If so, how? Its barely 2 months old. Thanks.

Thanks for your reply, but I'm still wondering how do I get this fixed. Do I contact bauer? Do I goback to the store w/out the receipt?

I'd suggest having your mother (since they may remember her) take the bag back with her credit card statement (in lieu of receipt) to the store, and at least get an exchange or a credit against a better bag.

However, my advice would be to spend the store credit on something else, and wait for Marcelo's bag - it's going to be spectacular.
