Wow, i cant believe i wasted $100 on tickets for this, if DLR cant even remeber the words then whats the point in goin.

A couple guys I know went to see them at Copps a few years ago. 2 or 3 songs in, they look at each other and go "yeah, we can still make it to hockey" and left. Mind you, one was a sales rep at the Rock station in town so they didn't pay for the tix.

Sammy was a mess & Eddie did a song lying on the stage 'cause he was GONZO!

One one hand it's sad to hear. I've seen Van Halen many times, with Dave and Sammy. In thier prime they were great. Unfortunately Eddie got wacked out and Alex followed his leed on everything.

On the other hand I'm kind of glad to hear that thier show sucked. The way they tossed Mike under the bus was disgusting. I'm glad him and Sammy are great friends and still make great music together. The are having a blast and living the good life.

Hopefully theyll put a good show on in Calgary. theyve still got till friday to shape up. Either way it cant be as bad as a Guns N Roses concert that Axl didnt show up at.

Well it was my first concert so it was amazing for me, but i didnt have anything to judge it with. My bro went to and he said it was the second best show hes ever seen tho, first was Motley Crue.

They're just such a class act, always bring their best stuff, and always play it like its their last show. Compared with the video of Van Halen you posted, its a joke, sloppy play, horrible singing...

Motley Crue is a show, Rush is a concert experience, no fire, smoke etc. Just three guys, a couple of clothes dryers, a vending machine and a big screen. It is by far the best sounding concert I have ever been to.

Actually, they ditched the washing machines and they had rotisserie chicken ovens, a couple of dog statues, and a mr.potatoe head on one of the amps... But theres nothing that can beat Motley Crue's strippers and midgets riding motorcycles on stage.

Hate to say it (and nothing against the kid) but Wolfie's got about as much stage presence as a tree trunk. He should just stand in a corner by the drum riser and play like John Entwistle did...and so much for the high harmonies and back up singing that Mike Anthony did (and his covering when the singers, Sammy or Dave, forgot the words or were having problems). Guess you don't know what you are missing until it's gone.

For all you VH and audiotech-heads. Watch (and listen) to the train wreck unfold before you....

Those were two of the worst performances I've had the good fortune to miss. I was a little jealous of all the people I know who were going to the VH show(s) this year, but now I'm satisfied with staying at home. They suck ass.

Additionally, I don't want things to be 100% perfect at a concert.

That was my problem with Aerosmith. I saw them a few times over a couple different tours and it was always the exact same show. Sure the songs may have changed but it was always a couple new, a couple old, a couple slow, with the same things said between songs and the same stage antics at the same points of the songs. Plus they had five part harmonies on the background vocals despite only having a couple actual mics on stage.

Many artists are "flying in" their background vocals via keyboards. I'd rather a band not have any then have them piped in, or worse, shitty ones from the rest of the band members.

I think that these "older acts" (Aerosmith, Journey, REO, Van Halen, etc.) have a "dirty dozen" that they have to play. They have to play about a dozen songs which are the ones that really put them on the map. Many of the "older" fans want the obscure songs that haven't been played in 20 years or so, yet, the band knows that they have to unload the "DD" every night in order to appease the casual fan and get them hooked on coming to future shows, as well as purchasing the back catalog of music.

My issue was more with the choreographed run right after two songs, left after one more, etc... stuff much more than the selection. It took five shows before they did Toys in the Attic, but I only paid for one of the shows so I can't complain too much.

Of all of the concerts I've been to, the two best sounding artists BY FAR are Steely Dan and The Cult. You will NEVER hear clearer music than these two. Rush sounds great, but, nowhere near these.

If you are a fan, see them when they come through your town.

Additionally, I don't want things to be 100% perfect at a concert. That is why I love the Barenaked Ladies. Their adlibs are tremendous and the guys just have fun. The crew is stellar and a great bunch of guys to hang out with (all of them play hockey).

I've been trying to go to a Steely Dan concert for years, but they never seem to come up here.
