thorpedo26 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2007 How can i keep the guys in it, were havin a bad season so far 'winless" and the team is slowly starting to crumble apart, how can i help keep this from happening?
Fire0nIce228 1 Report post Posted December 6, 2007 I'd make sure everyone still has fun at practice and in the room. Its one thing for guys to get upset at themselves/teammates during a game but if everyone is still friends afterwards it keeps them wanting to show up at the rink..I played on some BAAAAD teams, but we were always hanging out before/after practice and friends at school and stuff so showing up to the rink to practice and play was never really an issue. fatwabbit 93 Report post Posted December 7, 2007 maybe have a team meeting and see where you are going wrong. Dont point the finger at anyone, nor tell them what they should be doing. As the team captain, you should be the first to pinpoint your own mistakes...
Chadd 916 Report post Posted December 7, 2007 I have some questions:Why is the team bad?Lack of talent, lack of team play, lack of organization, players out of position, poor utilization by the coach, lack of commitment from the players? Are the guys pointing fingers at each other? Have there been fights yet? Do the guys care if they win or lose? Do the other guys respect you or your opinion? Are you related to a coach?

DEATHTRON 19 Report post Posted December 7, 2007 What I have learned in my years of being a captain, is that you need to lead (obviously) but you must also be like a grand parent in way: Dont favor anyone, if the best guys on the team are jacking around then you need to come down on them, same with the guys that suck, and when they do something good do the same. Obviously you cant be friends with everyone, but Ive found one or two things help. -Off Ice functions. Now that Im in college, it normally involves drinking. But back in highschool we would all get together and play video games or go to some other school sporting event together, or even bowling or something fun. -Be a good liaison between the coach and your players. -Finally, lead by example, its the easiet way to lead, back up your mouh with your actions.
