DCott 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2007 Just because you are using a respected member of MSH's account doesn't mean you won't get ragged. In fact, using his account without permission will hurt your cause.Don't expect any helpful answers, because the mods will probably lock this one, as they should.so suck it, noobster. D aka speck 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2007 This is the real me typing...Sorry that my lil' friend jacked my profile and all.I take full responsibility. I told him about the site, and didn't log off.DCott- he's 12 years old, let's not throw the old "suck it" phrase out there alright. He meant no harm, just wanted to get into hockey ( as apposed to Football, baseball and basketball) .His mother pushes him away from hockey, by pushing him into other sports. He's a bit leary of setting up an MSH accout for fear that his step-dad will track it.I just found out myself, that he used my account to post a message, by talking with him. He's my best friends son, and a good kid.I'm gonna' take him to the rink tomorrow and work (again) on skating.Then... I'm gonna' make him set up his uwn account!Again, I personally, appologize, in the future, I will log out.Can we at least admire his dedication?!Let's welcome him in and grant him amnesty. He's only skated twice in his life, and I take full responsibility for him. That is what we're all about right?Let's get him off the football fields and basketball courts and get him into what he really wants to play... hockey.Again, I appologize for the post, but I believe that he made his standing very clear. What he did was wrong, but he stated it very clearly.Let's let that part go. D aka speck 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2007 He didn't really have my approval. He just pulled up the site and he was automatically logged in as me. At least he was cool enough to be honest about it.As to the question he asked, practice is what I told him too :D
ktang 34 Report post Posted December 10, 2007 Hockey is a great sport because there are so many different skills to master; skating, passing, puck handling, shooting, positioning, read-and-react tactics, game situations, and all those rules! It takes a long time to acquire these skills. Some practices / games everything will seem to click, and then the next practice / game nothing will go right. I think that trying to master the game, or even to improve enough to become respectable, can be a long-term or life-long quest to enjoy. That's why a lot of us old-timers still enjoy this game. So, at first, try to acquire proficiency in all the skills and positions. Once you have experience with these, then you can specialize to the positions and skills that you're good at and enjoy.Playing and practicing the game helps you appreciate what you can see in the NHL games, and vice versa.
