Graf Ultra g70

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have these skates? What are your thoughts on them? There was not much of anything in the search, so I figured I'd post this. How is the outsole? I know there has been an outsole issue and I was wondering how its holding up. They cost a decent amount more than the 709, but is it worth it? Thanks

I was actually talking to a graf rep at my LHS. Take it for what it is, but he said they've had good reviews with the new texalite outsoles. The only outsole issue I have heard of was with the outsole on the older G models, not the ultras.

Also be aware that the fit of the Ultra G70 is slightly different from the 709s. from what I've heard, they aren't as deep as the 709s- this was confirmed with the rep i was talking to today.

The G70's are definitely not as deep as the 709s. They do, however, fit much tighter in the heel than the 709s (at least in my experience).

I've yet to hear any complaints about the Ultra series outsole (which will soon be the standard on all 7xx and Gxx models, as well).

As long as we're talking about Graf reps: our guy, Kevin, came in earlier this week and brought the new line with him...the new 735s are quite possibly the ugliest skates I've ever seen; white and silver are two colors that don't seem to work well together.

I don't mean to sound like a weight whore, but is the difference in weight between the 709 and G70 huge? Does anyone have any official weights? I remember there was a thread that had some skate weights (graf was on there), but it was lost

I have yet to see the G70 in a shop, but the weight difference between a 705/g5 ultra is pretty significant.

the liner and materials of the ultras will also do a really good job of keeping the weight down as you play. my 709s are like bricks after the game because they retain moisture. I don't notice it while playing, but afterwards they've got some weight to them.

If I had no problems with the heel width of a 1500c or a flexlite, would I be better in a g70 or 709? I dont want the heel to be too wide. The only problem I had was depth. Any help? Will the depth of the g70 be good for me if the depth was fine in a flexlite for me but too shallow in the 1500c? Sorry for all of these questions, Im just concerned about the 709 heel width and the weight as Ill be converting them to roller. Thanks guys

I've worn Easton 1200's, Flexlites, and now G70's. Heel fine in the 1200's and Flexlites. Slips a tad in the G70's (not bad enough to complain about). Law Goalie has tried the 709's and confirms they are deeper than the G70's but wider in the heel. I have found the G70's to be as deep as the 8090's and the flexlites.

^^ What he said.

Though it must be said that the lasts of the Flexlite, 8090 and G70, though quite similar in overall depth and a generally wide fit, are *nothing* alike in any other respect -- totally different foot-shapes.

Not to thread jack, but are you barefoot or what type of socks do you wear?

Cbart, the g70 are signficantly deeper than the 1200c correct?

Had My Ultra G 70's baked last night and the fit just a little shallower than my 709's but the toe box seems a hair wider and "taller", more space above my toes, but i'll know better tomorrow when I play on them
