Skate Tongue Pain

Recommended Posts

So within the last month or so, it's come to the point where I can't be in my Supreme 70s for more than an hour or so due to a developing pain. What happens is on my left skate, the tongue of my skate forms a hard ridge as it bends over the top row of laces. As a result, this hard ridge grinds up against the tendon that extends up towards my Tibia as I flex my foot towards me. So every time I flex a little in my boot, I get a sharp searing pain in my leg. It feels like I have a perpetual bruise in this spot.

Do you guys have any idea what is going on or how I can remedy the solution? I purchased the skates about 6 months ago, and I've only started seeing the problem recently. Other than this little issue, they fit me perfectly.

I hate to say it man, but youve got the dreaded lace bite. My suggestion is to buy some foam (thin) and place it between your tongue and your ankle. Happened to me in my old 705's after like 3 years of no problems. The tongue just breaks down and like you said, a groove forms in the padding making the lace put a lot of pressure in one small area. good luck.

I had this problem with my 8k and 9k skates. Eventually, my feet got used to the pressure. I wrapped my ankles with some pre-wrap before lacing up and that helped a lot. Maybe thicker felt tongue would help too?
