A Wheel for use on coated concrete and Sportcourt

Recommended Posts

Im currently skating on Nike Roller Daddy's and, the stock wheels they come with (Labeda Gripper Millenium, X-Soft). Of course they are begining to split along or just outside the middle seams. I train on a painted concrete rink but play all games on Sport court or Orb court (pretty much the same thing as sport court). I want to keep as much grip as possible on both surfaces is there a wheel out there that can hold up on both without splitting? Or do I simply have to buy a set of outdoor wheels for the concrete and keep the Labedas for the Orb court?

I remember Jay saying something about Hyper Unity's holding up pretty well on that surface.

Look for something in 76-78a durometer range. That should fix your problems.

Never used the Unity's but I've had pretty good luck with the Gripper Lite in 76a. Really, the painted concrete surface will tear up any wheel fairly quickly so like THockey17 said, anything around 76a that your comfortable with the price and performance of should suit you fine.

whooops.

My apologies Jay.

I use Factory Halo's(red-76a) outdoors on a polished concete and havent had a problem since i've got them over a month ago. Theyre barely even showing signs of wear.

I have used Rink Rat Hornets 78A for over a month, they have performed flawlessly.

What Rinkrats are those?

I was using the Hot Shots on painted Concrete, they held up well and are still usable, but the front and back wheel on each skate is cracking after about 10 games on concrete and 10 on sport court.

Eazy...if I were you i would stick to 1 set of wheels for 1 surface. dont switch between sportcourt and concrete...does funky things to wheels, thats why the wheels are cracking. I would trying using 2 sets of wheels, 1 for concrete and one for sportcourt.

I'm working on it. Everything this year was just so screwed up with my skates, and I'm considering new ones and i'm not sure whether i'm going a different bearing route or not so I decided to just get some wheels and play out the season with them. Next year I'll definately goto 2 sets though, especially since sport court is becoming much more frequent around these parts.

I used my wheels on a painted concrete surface for practices and then went to a tournament and we were on sport court and I was sliding so far when i was trying to stop so my advice would be to get 2 sets of wheels.
