Spreedizzle 1 Report post Posted December 30, 2007 GSP completely owned Hughes. Anyone else think that this was Hughes' last fight? Hughes was beat at his own game....how demoralizing.

mik3 1 Report post Posted December 30, 2007 GSP just gave Hughes an old fashion arse whoopin.p.s. chuck with the spinning back fist => PRICELESSI was surprised that dusthead won, also shocked that two of the judges gave him round two.I'm sure Dana gives him someone easy in his next fight(Like the Jardine fight was supposed to be after 'Page embarrassed him) and not someone like Machida/Thiago Silva/Evans. J-Shera 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2007 I say him n Machida fight for the chance to take on Rampage.
mik3 1 Report post Posted December 30, 2007 Liddell should be pretty far from a title shot. And he probably will have time for two fights before Rampage will fight again after the Forrest fight. They'll give him someone he can beat then a real fighter if he wins with a chance of maybe fighting rampage.Liddell is never going to be a top five 205 again so Dana's probably better off getting him in big name fights and fights he can squash cans. bunana3 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2008 Chuck has the rematch clause in his contract, so it is just a mater of time and no more losses he'll get his rematch. Weather or not most chuck haters think he deserves it.
mik3 1 Report post Posted January 4, 2008 Chuck has the rematch clause in his contract, so it is just a mater of time and no more losses he'll get his rematch. Weather or not most chuck haters think he deserves it.Well he gets clauses like that because, pre-TUF's exposure to the masses, he was pretty much the face of the UFC to people who didn't know MMA in this country. He made about 300k more than Rampage when Rampage knocked him out and about 400k more than Jardine when Jardine beat him. It's pretty funny, and it's the kind of money Tito was making when he came back. You wonder why everyone hates Dana, it's because of rematch clauses like this and the pay rate. If it weren't for things like that none of us would have to be stuck watching Nogueira kill Tim Sylvia in a few months. We could have seen Couture/Nog
sdcopp 1 Report post Posted January 4, 2008 Couture leaving has nothing to do with pay rates and rematch clauses. It comes down to contractual control that Fedor wouldn't sign to. Who else does Randy really have to beat? He's number 2 behind Fedor in every ranking on the planet, and the UFC screwed themselves out of Fedor based on what he couldn't do under contract for them. He even said himself it was a lucrative offer. Rampage hasn't been under contract with UFC that long, nor has Jardine. Liddell has stuck through the ownership change and not complained, why shouldn't they reward him for doing a good job and being loyal? He is now starting to face the pure best 205 fighters. Rampage caught him, Vandy couldn't get the job done. Outside of those three there aren't many bigger name, badder fighters at 205 consistently. Plenty of young talent like Forrest, don't get me wrong, but few experienced top tier fighters that have brought in crowds for years.
mik3 1 Report post Posted January 4, 2008 I hope by saying "Rampage caught him" you don't feel that was some fluke, 'cause that was the second time Rampage beat him. He's not a top 5 205 fighter anymore, and really a lot of the reason he was had to due with all the good ones fighting in Japan, he got a crooked decision against a fighter who's spent after getting beat by a chump in a fight that was set up to hype some sort of return by Liddell. zrez 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2008 Who else does Randy really have to beat? He's number 2 behind Fedor in every ranking on the planetThats because the rankers are idiots. IF ur talking all fighters, hes in no way #2, and if ur talking just heavyweights hes still not #2. THe guy comes in and beats up a crappy Tim Silvia then beats a highly over rated Gonzaga and people think hes the greatest. First of all, look at his record, not very impressive. 2nd of all, the reason he left UFC was because he knew he had defeated two plugs and wanted to leave before people got past all the hype and realized he wasnt anything special. Thats why he didnt take the fight with big Nog, cause he knew he would get destroyed. Dont get me wrong hes a good fighter, hes legendary in the LHW division but in the HW hes nothing. Fedor, Barnett and Nog would take him out, just to name a few.
mik3 1 Report post Posted January 5, 2008 Well, Gonzaga is great but that headbutt he caught pretty much ended that fight. Also, the HUGE speculation when Couture first left was it was a failed drug test and this was Dana's way of letting him serve his year without it being a big deal. Randy is too nice of a guy to make a big fuss over money and fighting Fedor. Especially since he just came back "for the competition".
