Pain from skates

Recommended Posts

Is it possible for different skate brands to cause pain in your lower back? I was using Graf's for a while and recently switched to one90's and started getting pain in my lower back?

Could be the change in the pitch of the skate causing that...though your case is kind of a reverse of what I figured would cause pain.

Going from a forward lean (assuming you had Cobra holders on the Grafs), to the pitch of the One90 could be the culprit of your back pain.

just curious-- do you have a short leg? not sure why you are noticing it from one pair of skates to the next, but a short leg is a big reason for lower back pain. need more history than just " i switched from brand x to y ". there could be alot more going on here than you know, but because you recently changed skates it may APPEAR to be the skates.

I changed skates a few months back. Went from Mission S-500 with the pitch set at +1 to a pair of Graf 707's with custom + TUUKs.

Now that I look back on it, I had horible back pain. . . so bad I couldn't walk right for a few days, and when I got up the next morning couldn't even move.

I had no idea what caused it, but it probably is directly related to the difference in pitch and the fact that you are on your heals more.

The pain never really happened again other than those first two times, so maybe it j ust takes some getting used to, since your lower back is straining more than usual.

You shoud use whichever boot fits best for your foot. You can have the 0ne90s profiled to feel exactly like your Grafs. I suppose that you could even put on a set of Cobras.

Have had the same issue in years past. You usually can just skate it out after 3 or 4 sessions. If it continues even after your attempts at fixing it, see the doc...
